Is less light needed in the beginning from a seed to flowering? ... can I use one 27 watt CFL while it's vegetating from a seed until it gets bigger? Or is it better to keep it at 4-8? I've got a 8-27 watt CFL set up for flowering. Would the same amount be needed while vegetating?

I'm currently using 4 x 14W CFL 5000k for 2 Veg plants and they seem to be growing fine. I'm sure once they get over a foot tall more light might be essential. The more lights the better though, couldn't be more true. But if you are limited to what you can do, work with what you got and good luck!
