hi riu,I've been trying to lower my cabs temps a little and have confused myself in the process with my fam filter combo, I know this has been an area of confusion for many, I've read through other posted similar but here's my situation

I have a 6" inline fan with a cfm rating of 315 cfm and a can 33 carbon filter with a max exhaust of 200cfm and recirculation reading of 400 cfm though I swear the box said 420 anyways my setup goes

filter on cab floor with 2 ft of duct to one end of the cool cooltube the other end of the cool tube has the fan pulling airb through the filter and cool tube out of the cab and then 2 ft of duct from the top of the can through the ceiling into the attic , so I guess I'm exhausting not recirculating right?
in don't have any smell issues and I've been running like this for about two months but am I burning up my fan? Do i need a filter with a higher exhaust cfm I thought iv was over sizing my filter to fan properly

Filter needs to be higher cfm rated then fan unless your running a variac fan speed controller or.something else suitable. Nor are you running a recirculation system. Your exhausting

Scrubbing I think by exhaust they mean your fan blowing through filter, instead of sucking air threw the filter.
Totally wrong running a scrubbing filter is just a filter Fan in room just scrubbing the air to neutral smells and a exhaust filter is the same but needs to be used at a slower cfm rating to properly scrub the air before extraction

thanks guys .... So we can conclude that I am exhausting and the exhaust cfm rate on that filter is to low...... When looking at some new filters like the phresh for example they only list one cfm and it doesn't say wether its max exhaust or recirculation..???

Look at it like this the cfm # the show is max cfm. Always run more filter then fan. So in my case I have a 8 inch 700cfm fan with a 900cfm filter. The slower you pull air thru filter the better the scrubbing (removed odor from air) capability in turn cleaner air esp for exhaust.. in a scrubbing application exchange entire room atleast 1 time every 3 minutes
