While wanting to look at the trics and not having a scope I found out while searching the house for something to use that you can get away using a telescopes removable eye piece like the one below.
Just turn it upside down ( the plated metal or chromed end ) put it close to your eye and place it close to whatever you want to check out. The 5mm seemed to work best for me but try the others to see what works for you. If you don't have a tric scope and have an old telescope lying around this could do the trick to see those trics up close.
So for a project I am going to hook it up to a web cam and see if that would work.
