Problem is if you have a bad grow that's a few hundred down the drain and a bunch of time so next grow you gotta make up the losses. You should be able to hit your 1lb goal. but growing is more disappointment than anything when your learning haha

I'm just going to get a seedling soil https://www.bunnings.com.au/osmocote-10l-seed-cutting-potting-mix_p3020058 and little jiffy pots and get started, the confusion and hesitation is killing me. Gives me more time to mull over soil advice and instructions and find all the parts. Probably just order the Easy As Organics bag if they have any stock.. and the fact I haven't even started the seeds yet I can just get a seedling mix and have more time to suss the main grow soil
mate just grow with coco cior with pearl light i did my first grow and i like advance nutrients as they are already ph,d no need for ph pen or reader pretty hard to get it wrong and coco is forgiving

This thread has been helpful. I too seem to be having soil issues.
I'd been recommended Scott's premium osmocote potting mix and a bucket load of ingredients even though they already appear to be in the potting mix....

Not too mention the bugs flying outta the soil(I have used neem oil and they're slowly dying out)

Hey mad flavour I’m Aussie newb to got all my set up & just received seeds today I tried coco & failed misreble anyway not gonna give up I’m also looking at Easy As Organics who did you go with cheers mate
Just for anyone else reading.. If you use 'easy as organics' you need to be using like 50 ltr pots for it to be 100% effective can use 25 but not optimal. Im in the same boat i settled on the turbo dirt/root roid/fruid roid as i want to use 11ltr pots ( i think thatll be right to use? Correct me if not) but theyre not in stock atm , 3rd option was the canna terra pro range im pretty sure its a peat based potting mix and the vega and floras nutrients to use with it

3 months in and I just can't get any decent growth in soil in my tent until this last week.
On to my 3rd round of seedlings, but they all kept dying at about 5cm high. Yellow leaves, then they dry out and wilt. Tried more watering, less watering, letting them go without for periods, Tried LED, Tried MH. MH is a bit better as I think the heat helps (none of the pro LED people tell you lack of heat may actually be a PROBLEM).. the extra heat and adding more air flow in the last week has seen my best results but it still so damn slow and uninspiring. My mate has the same strain, tent, lights and soil (except he mixed through his compost whereas all I could do was put it on top of the seedling potting mix I used) and he has amazing plants he just put to flower, I started a month before him and I got nothing but climbing power bills to show for it.
The soil seems crap but my mate says 'it's a living soil, its fine' he gave me some home made compost to put on the top of my potted soils but it's still not doing anything except now I seem to have a lot of creatures in my soil..
I dunno do I just keep going, with just water? Doesn't feel right to not be giving the plants anything but water. Do I add nutes at some point, is that why they keep dying? My mate just watered and later on used 'thrive' powder and his compost, thats it.
All I am trying to do now is get the fundamentals right, and I'm slowly starting to see some growth more like what I've read it should be when I worry about these
Keep the temp between 20-25 degree Celsius (SF2000 LED wasn't warm enough so got a 400W batwing MH) - TICK
Keep the air flow and fresh air into tent constant (wasn't doing this before, just had a internal blow fan that wasn't getting new air in / old air old) - TICK
Keep the Humidity above 70% - seem to struggle with this, so have just got a humidifier with hygrometer for the tent, coming in a few days
Apart from that, how much do I need to worry about the ph of my water going in to the soil? Half people say check it, but I don't know if I got a crap ph meter but everything I test (tank water or tap) seems high - tank water 8.5 and tap water high 7's - I think I probably need some ph down.
If after ph and humidity is ticked and it's still struggling, I'm thinking of trying a coco attempt.. but thankfully this latest soil attempt has been improving.

I didn't go full organic, just a Osmocote seedling mix with some compost added. Not sure if it's been one of my issues.. but anyway there was a place I called and they said they have it and could ship it anywhere in Sydney.. it was pretty expensive

WOW 50 litres - thats two bags at what i think is 50 AUD a pop. One plant per pot? Kind of blows out the savings of no nutes.
I think Canna Terra is I'll be trying next, a mate recently admitted he wished someone told him to do it earlier, he's never had better results and so much easier than soil. I've seen his setup and it's amazing, he sold me on Canna Terra
Yea 50ltr is too big for me too. I think either way you go its all gonna add up man, if you want the good stuff ya gotta pay the good $$ unfortunately. I ended up finding some turbo dirt so probably gonna give that way a go, au natural. Good luck bro
Mate. Chill. You’re getting all stressed and over thinking. Do the same. If you went to Bunnings and got some Searles potting mix premium. Add 30% pearlite to give a airy mix. Helps the roots. It’s good for Photos. A little Charlie Carp and you’ll have nice buds. For your outdoor. Indoor a reasonable soil with a bit of nutrients is ok. Pearlite also. Make sure you have a good bloom fertilizer. For when you flip.hey guys, I'm in Aus and completely new to this, I've heard nothing but use fox farm!!
But unfortunately you can't get it hereonly online and it's like a hundred bucks shipping, so I was wondering if anyone on here is in Australia or knows of someone in Australia and could tell me what products and or brands to look at, ANYTHING is helpful to me as I have never done this before. (My autoflower so are one week in so kinda in a hurry)

P.S my local landscape supply guys only have two types of organic soil and they are loam with chicken manure and loam with mushroom compost, does anyone know which may be better if I can't get any other info??
