Alternating Node Question

My plants are around 1 month old from seed. They were under about 165w of CFL lights for the first 3 weeks. They have now been under a 600w HD on a 20/4 cycle for a week. They are sitting around 20-22 inches away recieving somewhere in the range of 7-12k lumens. Two of the plants have started to alternate their last 2 or 3 nodes. I seem to have noticed slower overall vertical growth recently.

So my question is this. Is there any drawback to keeping these plants in the veg stage even though they have begun to alternate nodes? I was really hoping to get them another 6-8 inches taller before flipping into flowering.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

the longer you veg the bigger it gets...simple as that...just make sure you are giving it enough nutrients at the right PH and you can convert to flowering whenever you like, just expect at least 2x greater height when finished :)

Do you know if the slower growth would be related to the nodes alternating? They seem to have slown down so much since they started doing that. I would like to keep them vegging, but not if they are going to be growing that slow.

Never heard of that causing an issue...Is it bushing out a little more? :)

Bushing out much more. Ah... I didnt really think about this. It has prolly just been using its energy to bush out instead of grow vertivally. Maybe the question I should be asking is how to encourage more vertical growth rather then bushy growth for now.
