All parties aside...Obama?

This isn't so much a question for the conservatives, but for the rest. All politics aside, and no Romney...if your vote was purely for Obama or no Obama which way would you swing? You can blame shift all you want, but he has had a full term at this point. The point of this discussion is not to blame past presidents or things out of the president's control...merely to state his accomplishments, whether he can stand on his own and deserves to be reelected. I'm interested to hear why to vote for him if you take the other side out of the equation.

I really don't mean to be offensive here, but I'm surprised that there are as many Americans still talking about the mainstream candidates as there are. I would think by now more people would get how our government runs. I'm stunned that the american people haven't realized that it doesn't matter who you vote for if you're voting republican or democrat; they are all the same guy with a different body. It's nice to pretend to believe that our voice matters, but in my opinion it doesn't. Everyone of them is sold out to lobbyists and banks. These candidates pretend to offer us choices in things that matter very little for our country as a whole, while continuing to push the same agendas as the last. You can vote for Obama or Romney and maybe things will change with homosexual marriage or abortion, but trillions of dollars will continue to be spent on wars, making weapons, putting people in (privatized) prisons, bail-outs, re-enforcing national security (while stripping away our freedoms in the name of safety), establishing an even larger government, pharmaceutical research, etc. Like I said, I don't mean to offend you, but in my opinion, if you are asking about Obama it doesn't matter because it won't change anything. That's not the answer to the problem and I don't know what is short of a revolution. Hopefully it doesn't have to go that far, but a vote for a democrat or republican will make very little difference for this country on the large scale.

P.S. Sorry for such a pessimistic view on politics and the upcoming election, but at this point I trust almost every politician about as far as I can throw them.

i vote for killer of Osama bin Laden..............he won my vote when they whacked OBL. besides........."Mitt" is a pussy name. Barak.............now there's a strong name. we need a strong front right now.

Barack is Arabic for, "to recieve the blessing." Yeah, really strong name.

Mitt is short for Milton, Mill Town. The mill fed people.

What does blessing get you except bullshit?

If one of the Seal Team Six members was running for president, I'd vote for him too.

General Motors is alive and bin Laden is dead, meanwhile the other guy has an entitlement complex so bad he doesnt even know what a damn donut is.

Rik, we talk about the mainstream candidates because they are the only ones with a hope of making it. This isn't accommodation or defeatism; it's plain reality, despite the odd fellow in plate armor around here challenging windmills to single combat.

As to the original question: No. A certain someone promised Hope and Change, and I see us still at war with folks where the mission isn't "correct a conquest" but "advance our interests" ... and of course internally in re Drug War and all its associated ills. If he wanted to really impress me, he'd have held a war trial for the investment bankers featured in "Inside Job".

But compared to the horrific other choice? Yes. cn

While I can understand why someone might feel as you do, the fact is that there are real and often grave differences between one man and another, one party and another. These differences are inherent not in the parties but in the ideology that attitude that causes those people to gravitate to one party or the other. If you honestly think that there is no difference between one party or the other, or one condidate or the other, or one president or another, you simply havn't been watching.

Miltown is the name given to meprobamate, the original tranquilizer. Meprobamate is the inspiration for the drug used in Huxley's 'Brave New World" Romney, then, is in fact the opiate of the masses.

Obamacare vs. Romneycare lol
Foreign policy is pretty much the same, interventionism
Abortion is a wedge issue
Both will continue drug war (Obama increased spending and covered up Fast and Furious documents)
Economically the rhetoric is different but President has little control anyway
Both support NDAA and Patriot Act
Both will continue the Fed
TSA
IRS
DEA
TERRORISM

How many dispensaries were there in 2007? How many troops were deployed? How many homeless? Homeless veterans even?

How many now?

Don't expect every thing better overnight, and sometimes things have to get worse before they can get better, like medicine that makes you feel groggy, but honestly, look at those numbers. There is a plan for the deficit, and the government is working on the tax code.

Even the slightest examination of SCOTUS 5-4 votes should give you all the evidence you need to see the difference in ideological results of left vs. right. I've found something even more damning but I will likely post it in another thread.
