All about hermies.

I didn't look at your links.

If you bought feminized seeds from stable varieties from reputable breeders, it is unlikely that you will get hermaphrodites.
Feminized seeds and "hermies" are for the most part a terrible myth perpetrated by the ignorant.

That being said, if you stress any female plant of any variety enough, it will begin to show male flowers.
Poor growers blame their shitty grow skills on feminized seeds.

I am not saying you are a shitty grower. The myth of "hermies" and feminized seeds was started by shitty growers and weird jealousy.

so your also saying that fem seeds are bullshit? As in i should just buy reg?
No, he is saying that if you buy a feminized seed that was done correctly, you will 9 out of 10 times have female plants with no hermies.... Then he went to say that if you stress a female plant regardless of fem/reg the female will hermie on you as it is a survival thing that cough cough some believe humans gave to them.... lol... (sorry T, had to LOL)

ok... maybe more like 1 out of a 100? (depends on genetics of the plants mostly)

I absolutely think anyone should buy feminized seeds. Properly made feminized seeds will give you 100% females.
If a feminized seeds "hermies" it is most likely the grower's fault.

I produce feminized seeds. I have grown them.

They are great for regular growers. They save space, time, money...

don't let anyone tell you fem seeds are bad

What kind of light set up do you have? I wouldn't do all 40 at once....you should be able to get a lb. easy with three under a 1000 watt hps

Danny-

I was yanking your chain about where is VT. I got an "A" in geography.
I will take a look later and see if I can help without messing with you. I need a smoke break and my kid wants on my computer.

You could get a multiple pounds off of one plant, if you veg it huge and surround it with 1000 watt lights.

I get around a pound with two plants, in coco, scrogged in a 3 x 3 tent with a 600 watt hps.
So the answer is yes, you can get a pound.

That just leads to more questions.
If you are growing in soil, I am not qualified to answer questions pertaining to that.
Lights and environment are pretty much the same in soil and hydro, so I could help with that.

how much do you want to produce?
how much work are you willing to put in?
how much do you want to spend on gear?

That is a good starting point.

Read this article. It will answer your questions about hermies and Femanized seeds.

Ignore this troll. He does not know what he is talking about.
That is an old article that was crap when it was written. It has little to do with properly made feminized seeds from good genetics.
I am amazed that they would still have that garbage on there site.

How many feminized seeds have you grown?
How many feminized seeds have you produced?
What are you basing your opinions about feminized seeds on?

Robert its an outdoor grow..I don't have lights. My light source is the sun :P anyways..The Epsom salts just help with producing bud (Browndirtwarriors advice. I trust that man with my life) and im thinking of digging 12 gallon holes then putting a heavy duty garbage bag with holes for drainage at the bottom then put that bag in the hole fill it with promix HP mycorrazzie mix adding in spring heavy harvest as well as lime then planting a seed in there. I really lack the information on why i cant start a seed out in a huge medium. Why do growers start it out in small pots then transplant and transplant again if needed too..I don't get it. If i just start the seed right in a 12 gallon medium will it grow like a beast like its supposed too? Thanks so much for your information BTW Trousers.

Some people start the seeds indoor then transplant them into the ground to give them a head start.
You might have some pest (deer, squirrels etc) problems too and may need to put a screen or tomato cage around each plant.
Again, I grow in pots outside in an enclosed yard, so my knowledge is limited.
Check the outdoor growing section and try making a thread there.

I just want you to know that i GREATLY appreciate your advice. Seem like a true master. Anywho i was wondering if it would still grow big and strong if i just started it from seed in a huge hole? I dont have the option of putting the ladies under light before going out. Thanks!

My seeds came from female clones fertilized by a hermie. I have grown 63 of the plants and have yet to see a male or a hermie, even when I severely stress out the females.

Again, I am not much of an outdoor grower.
Not even close to a master. I have been growing for about 4 years, not including some stuff in college 100 years ago.
You can put them in a hole in the ground. If it is cold, it will take longer to germinate/sprout and you might have a lower germination rate.

You could germinate the seeds inside without light. I put the seeds in wet paper towels in a sealed baggie and put that on a router for a little heat (not too much, maybe just have the edge of the bag on the router if it is pretty warm). When the little root pops out of the seeds, you can plant them a couple inches below the soil.

You might want to invest in some wall of water bags. Although 42 might be a bit pricey.

You fill the edges with water and put it around the seedling. The water warms during the day and keeps it pretty warm at night. They work great for tomatoes in my experience, so I imagine they would work well with weed.

You can make your own with two liter bottles and tape or something similar.

There are 100 ways to skin a cat and a 1000 ways to grow marijuana.
I suggest you seek out some advice from outdoor growers at a similar latitude.
I know there are some successful outdoor Maine growers here. They should be able to help you.

The outdoor growers section is probably dead except for Aussies, but you still might want to make a thread in there asking for help.

The fact that you are planning this early means you should do great.
Good luck!

Thanks! One more question. I would germinate inside of course but i was saying i cant start them off under lights inside its no an option. So a germinated seed directly outside is fine?
