So got a ph test kit and figured out the batch of living soil i made and amended has a ph too high of 7.5 or alkaline it shows on the results whem a did a test here cause bought a kit as having ph issues, was jist wondering, can i fix this alkaline issue by cutting my soil with peat moss? I did make a super soil so its pretty rich.. the other ones thriving tested in at around 6 which is acidic level but they are thriving happy like that

xkING,
Are you talking about changing the ph of the soil that already has a plant in it? ...or the rest of the soil mix you made up. Farmers will add S as acidifying agent but it takes awhile for the chemistry to work itself out. Peat should help plus a more acidic feed...won't hurt. It won't permanently alter soil ph though.

I mean the rest of the mix there, was thinking of putting some peat in it, not sure what to do for the plant in the akaline soil, its a smaller one so not a big deal but its bottom leafs are lil burnt looking from the ph off, and yeah heard of the sulfur before but want sure, was thinking maybe the microbes i got could help balance the soils ph out also, not sure as my first year learnimg on microbes but i know they help balance rhe soil out when they colonize

I got one patch of other soil to test tomorrow but i only found pne patch to be higher alkaline and one to be more neutral, rest are around 6ph and acidic

Different soil blends in different patches lol, theyre all at least a mile apart so each patch has different phs it seems cause i just tossed different ratios in, mostly just reamended a nice organic mix that had decent amount of stuff in it last year, put in compost, ewc, and a decent of gaia green 4-4-4 organic all purpose per plot and some kelp same as the other plots but maybe the higher concentrations in some made it more alkaline

Gotcha...I'm not currently an organic grower. But read that organic growers don't worry about soil ph so much. I never even phed when I did organics. But I don't even want to tell you how long ago that was.

Ahh yeah i was reading not to worry about the ph much in organics too, guess can fluctuate often, just was testing them all and did seem bit up there, i bet a bit of peat moss added to my mix will help, something threw it off a bit

Hi OP.

I vote peat moss too.

Even liquid sulphur.
Just be careful not to over do this 1.
Very hard to undo.

Wet sulphur quickly turns sulfuric, when wet all the time.
Easy to tip it over the edge.
