Airoponic pump cycle

Hi ive been running my pump 24/7 which has been fine but i think the roots have grown through the pipes causing water to build up in the buckets and its emptying my reservoir quickly as its staying in the buckets and draining slowly so to try and cure ive put the system on 15 mins on and 15 off but ive still got the same problem, would it be safe to run for 15 on and say 1to2 hrs off ? I cant unblock the system without pulling each plant out and probably damaging roots. Also im growing in rockwool.

It`d be better to fix the drainage issue. Witholding water (assuming they survive it) will encourage more root growth with nowhere to go

Thanks for the reply ive sort of half sorted the problem ! Whats happening is that the roots are going to the bottom of the bucket and creating a matt thats covering the holes for drainage, also there growing down the pipes to my reservoir and theres not much i can do this time round now but ive been on to the shop today and apparantly theres a copper insert you can use to stop roots going down the pipe which i will try next time and ile try drilling more holes for drainage. This Isn't a home made system though so im supprised im having problems.
