Airing bud for better flavour

I often just grab a bud out the jar and grind it up when I’m going to smoke.

I’ve noticed this for a while now but if I leave ground bud in the grinder overnight the next morning it tastes much more complex!

It seems like the bud needs to exposed to oxygen or the likes of for a few hours to really bring out the fine notes.

Anyone else noticed this phenomenon?

Yes, most definitely that first day or so, there appears to be a benefit.

I kinda get what you mean but i find it depends some stuff looses flavour faster than others and some retains it more the monoterpenes are ones you lose easy as they have low boiling points sesquiterpenes stay more as they have a higher boiling point what your describing sounds more like the mono terps being oxidized from heat and exposure to air i find some weed takes oxidation better than others

In bud form we want the smell to be partially locked in, that is what keeps the smell and taste. Over time it will seep out and dissipate. If you like strong flavors grinding will always get you closer to it.

None of that really relates to cannabis. Broscience adapted from the candle industry. Cannabis flavor isn't infused from perfume chemicals, it's biosynthesized from other plant chemicals. Sorry kids but the terpene test doesn't mean anything. Cannabis doesn't smell like myrcene/pinene etc and those are gone before use, why are they lab testing for them? Big lawsuit someday other the terp medical claim nonsense.

Cannabis smells come from things like lipoxygenase etc. People ruin their weed keeping it sealed up, refrigerated etc. I've seen it for decades straight, to the point no one know how to breed loud flavorful medical grades plants anymore.
