Just wondering if anybody has used these and what the results were. what do you guys use for stones? I used the encased ones that you get from walmart last time. they didnt seem to fall apart at all but they did seem to clog very easily. I would like to get some of those micro pore diffusers but damn there expensive.

I find the stones that are all stone and not inlaid in plastic work better. But they do clog so I repelace them with each grow. I get mine at meijer.

thats what I got at the moment but I found these aircore things at my local pet store and the guy said they produce a lot more finer bubbles. they are made of some sort of sand though I wasnt sure how that would react in the dro setup with nutes and all. I didnt really want to ask him any specific Q's on that though.

I think anything they make for an aquarium would be ok. Is Aircore the brand name? I'm always looking for something better and as many as I use if I found a good one I'd buy them by the case.

Aircore is the brand name they are made by jw petsupplies. I talked to a guy a while ago that had one of those micro pore diffusers and he said them things rock and he never has to clean them. he does soak them in a mild cleaning solution between uses though. the damn things are like 20 bux though for one six in setup and as many as I need thats way out of budget it be like 300 bux.

well I think I have made my last airstone purchase for a while unless I decide to make another setup and just need more stones. here they are http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=19522. I would like to thank major tom for posting them in another thread. after I seen these I looked into them and stopped into my local dro store just to check on something and got talking to the guy over there. he said he ordered some of them for a guy he wasnt sure if they were the exact same ones or if they were the other micro pore ones that you see but they were of the fired glass sort. but he said hes done three grows with them so far and loves them. the company did state that they do no break down or react with nutrient solutions and would not cause any issues with ph as a standard silicon or sand stone does. that was enough to sell me on them as anything that wont interfere with ph or nutes is a good thing in my book.

These stones are the best! I usually use the little round blue ones, but they do not produce NEAR the bubbles that the aircore do.They are dirt cheap too, which is nice. I am not sure how long they last, but for .80 a 4 pack im not too concerned about it.

One aircore replaced two of the round blue stones.
