Air Pump for Bubbleponics System

I bought an air pump from walmart because im going off of what someone else recommended for a system.. How should I hook up my air pump so the plants get the water and nutrients.. I already have the open part of the tubes taped to the top of the net pots and have the ends hanging over the rockwool cubes.. How do i use the airpump to circulate water to my plants.. This is the airpump im using.. if i do need something else for the water circulation, let me know the cheapest and easiet one i can find that will work.. http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...ct_id=10291813

That, as you pointed out, is an airpump. The system you are describing is a water pump. A water pump will take the tank water and push it up the tubes out the top (drip-system).

What you have only pumps air. The goal of an air pump is to connect an air stone (of any sort) to the end of your tube and place it in the reservoir itself. This having been done oxygenates the water and keeps it moving in the tub/bucket/reservoir.

While pumping oxygen through air stones in a reservoir of water does oxygenate it, it also allows the moving/breaking bubbles to pop and lightly keep misting the rock wool cubes in your net pots. Before roots hit the water the cubes should stay lightly damp, not over saturated and not bone dry, this "misting" effect from the bubbles breaking mostly accomplishes this if your water line is roughly (give or take) a half inch below the bottom of your plastic net pot.

BTW... you do not run the hoses from the air pump into your net pots... you run the hoses to air stones .. i bought mine at wal-mart today and it cost 3 dollars....

You do not need to water your plants VIA a water pump.... dont waste your money going that route.. stick with what you got but go get some air stones...

check my grow out and you will see excatly how yours should be looking

Caddy is right as well as greenearth- I think the confusion is dwc vs. bubbleponics, what system are you building? Dwc is what caddy described, bubbleponics is like dwc but uses an airation hub to transfer nutes and air-raided water to bottom of net pots. Water level is lower and the roots hang in air like an aeroponic system. Hope this helps.

greenearth.. I have 2 air stones and an air pump.. How many times a day do you water your plants..Also.. When should i switch to bloom nutrients..

First off, I would recommend starting a grow journal so that people can read exactly what you've done since the day you started this journal...you would list the type of lights your using, how many hours they are on, what type of grow you have, what type of seeds, how many air pumps you have, how many air stones, etc. .... this is so people can help you out and give you the best advise out there

As far as your current setup... hmmm.. I would need to know what lights you have, how big your rockwool cubes are, how big your plants are, how long the roots are, what nutes do you use...

I have a 150W HPS and therefore I had to water my rockwool every 5 hours (ruffly). When the top of the rockwool is dry the bottom is probably still wet. When i watered I just dumped enough water on the rockwool until it dripped into my reservoir.

Currently, I do not need to water my plants, they water themselves. My plants have long enough roots that they just rest in the water below and suck it all up. This took 2 weeks to happen from the start of my grow.

thx man.. you actually gave me information i was asking for.. not just shit i didnt need to know or care about that would just make me search more or ask more questions.. and i just planted them in the cubes as seeds.. and im not gonna find out how loud that water pump is anytime soon because im not getting one.. lol..

oh so I am a fucking idiot for doing my research and finding the answers I need instead of asking half assed questions like how to circulate water w/an air pump? I was honestly tring to help and from origional post it sounded as though hes was describing a bubbleponics system like the tag says. But what made me post last comment was someone who doesnt know what an airpump is for to say-

is totally stupid. First he didnt ask a straight question. Second you didnt answer anything you asked more questions, which I tried to do initially, to hear an insult from a nooby about reading shit he didnt care about -when I was tring to be helpful. My air pump is loud as shit! One of them that is.........I've put it on top of a sponge....that kinda quieted it.
Techgrower...you were a noob once too, I remember how excited my first grow was, even if it wasnt so exciting to everyone else.

Techno, go visit my journal, plenty of pics and a lot of good read there....and you start feeding bloom ferts about 2-3 months after those seeds sprout.....after you sex them, just after you switch light schedules...if everything goes well untill then...

Pencap-I was a nooby once, thats why I do try and help people here. I am still learning new things all the time. But when someone doesnt want to read up on basics, before asking questions, then call someone an idiot because there question was totally off the wall- He had air hose's taped to net pots, sounds like a bubbleponics system to me-no? So because someone didnt give him the exact answer he was looking for instead of reading faq's, I get insulted. I never tell nooby to look at faq as an answer, if I know I will try and help. Thats what most of us more experienced growers here are supposed to do. I was trying to help understand his skewed question.
A forum is research when you read first, reread second, then ask questions.
