Hey guys,

My friend who got me into this game first showed me Agave Nectar for sweetening. Has anyone used this? I chose to not take his advice and I invested in organic blackstrap molasses. Just curios to see who uses what as a sweetener.

'Sweeteners' do not sweeten.

True.

They're used to feed your microherd if you grow organic in soil or add myrobes or bacteria to your medium. I personally feed my microherd a mixture of agave syrup, molasses, and (the secret ingredient -- better than the other two imo) barley malt syrup.

I use molasses ,
dilute well ,don't go overboard and watch out for those fruit flies .....

All correct. Molasses feeds the bacteria in the soil that break down the nutes so the plant's roots can absorb them. Now nutes like GH FloraNectar or Bontanicare Berry Sweet ect do help to add and bring out natural flavors of the plant. I am doing a grow with 3 different plants all New York Diesel all cloned off the same plant in the same soil under the same light only each plant is getting a different sweetener. One is getting FloraNectar Berry, one is getting FloraNectar Sugar Cane and the third is getting a 50/50 mix of Berry and Sugar Cane. This is to see what if any difference in smell and or taste the difference sweets have on a plant and for me to figure out which sweet I like best with NYD. All my plants get molasses during flower every few waterings, first time using molasses. It is supposed to increase bud swell and thus yield so I figured my not give it a go since it is highly used.
