Afghan landrace yields?

Sup y'all! I got my hands on four types of afghan landrace seeds (Balkhi, Mazar-i-Sharif, Badakshan, Kunduz). Balkhi and Mazar-i-Sharif both seemed to yield heavy from google searches, but I've heard from people that landraces generally don't yield much.

I wanted to know if anybody has grown these puppies before and could talk a little about their experience?

Have two Balkhi and two Waziri girls in the ground now and flowering as we speak. None are monsters - the two Balkhi are both 46”, one Waziri is about 55” and the other 65”. Doing an organic grow with cow poop mixed into the soil before planting, and am only supplementing with top-dressed worm castings and dilute urine. Last year I grew three Afghan Kush in 4 gal. pots that were 4’, 5’ and 6’ respectively, and all produced just over 4 oz each. Thinking I will see similar yields with these, but time will tell! I am directly on the coast and actually don’t want huge plants with super-dense vegetation, as I don’t think that would work well here with PM and other threats.

Those are some beautiful plants! Thanks for sharing your experience. That's amazing that the Afghan Kush yielded 4' 5' & 6' plants in a 4 gal pot. Thanks also for clarification of Balkhi size. Very helpful

These were the Afghan Kush from last year - a totally inorganic, chemical-fueled first-ever grow. I have a plant this year from a seed I found in one of the buds; don't think anyone else near me is growing and this year's plant has similar characteristics to these, so must have had a random male flower that I missed.

Should add that last year‘s Afghan Kush were feminized seeds from World of Seeds, and this year‘s are from The Real Seed Company via kwikseeds.com.

Nice, my Afghans were sourced from RSC as well, waiting until next season to plant them. I'm hoping for your sake that planting in the ground will yield a more bountiful harvest. Did you amend the soil around them beforehand? I was thinking of running Kind Soil but I'm pretty new to all this as well.

I dug out 2 foot circles down about a foot and amended the soil with a shovel full of cow poop. Started the seeds in March inside in my sunroom with just natural light, in keg cups with garden soil and peat moss. Put the plants in the ground in mid-May but they didn’t like the night temps in the 40s and started going purple, so I dug them out and put them in pots until the first week of June when it finally warmed up. Guessing that messing with them cost me some stretching.

Next year I’ve got a bunch of Tirah seeds from TRSC I’m thinking of running - I’ll start with some richer soil and will have compost from my compost pile available to amend their holes in the garden too, along with the cow poop. And I will expand the hole size too to accommodate more root mass.

Hi guys I'm in the UK and just purchased some Afghan landrace vars from Afghan Selection Seeds. I have yet to sprout any but definitely excited to see how they go. I bought Barharak, hindu kush, khash and sholgar. They reckon they have sweet gasoline and pistachio aromas as well as diesel and grapefruit so I'm hopeful. Also states to expect potent body buzz which sounds great. I'll let you know asa I do some.

I grew a Pine Tar Kush, the Tom Hill inbred line, 2 years ago in the ground outdoors. It was a beautiful 8 ft xmas tree! Got a good 2 lbs off of it.

Have you made any PTK crosses? I would like to see some pics if you have!
Sorry, the last time I grew PTK I wouldn't even take photos of my grow, haha, the good old days. I will definitely document what I do with them later on this year. Have you seen this thread? https://www.icmag.com/forum/icmag-vendor-forums/seedbay/seedbay-private-breeders/verdantgreen/338425-pine-tar-kush-grow-along-and-hopefully-make-some-seeds There are some folks at ICmag who actively reproduce PTK, work lines, and breed with it.

Thanks! I did a seed run on mine last year, as the seeds were getting old. The friend who gifted them to me originally bought them from Tom Hill in 2000.

That's sweet, always good to make seeds with these heirloom strains! Tony Green recently released PTKxGorrilla Bubble F2 called Pine Tar Gush, and it looks freaking amazing. I wish I had picked some up last year-you can see pics of the cross at Great Lakes Genetics, and probably on the Tony Green thread on Overgrow.
