Afghan Kush Special...setting the stage for what a genetically modified plant is.

  • Id like to shed a little light on what this "GMO" plant really is...

Its a really fancy word (and a scientific explanation which most people dont understand) to say theyre feminized seeds and the process they undertook to make them (selection included). Its a "special" cut of afghan kush (clone). Of course they wouldnt stress it to make seeds cuz then youd have 50% hermies.

Thats all. If you buy fem. seeds, youre getting a "GMO" plant. Or a stressed the hell out genetic line.
(edit:the definition for the inhibitor being what they use on cancer patients isnt the same execution on the chemical processes used on plants and there are many different kinds of mitothic inhibitors

I had to repost this, because after talking with Nirvana, Greenhouse, and World of seeds...this is what I got out of the brief conversations through snail mail.

Word, brother. The thing is, people are going to keep buying them as long as breeders can keep claiming they are worth the extra money. It's really a problem on both sides. They are willing to sell a not so great product with a gimmick of "less or no males" and there are people out there who dont do the research and just have the money to spend on convenience. Research would yield that fem seeds can still grow up male and people have reported vigor/hermie issues but then again others have grown them with great results.

Different strokes for different folks. Some people go into Wal-Mart to buy the cheapest stuff they have, others go there because they think they are getting a deal on the "high end" products... If people didn't buy fem seeds, the breeders wouldn't keep making them. They dont grow from fem seeds themselves, many post or write articles about how they do not use fem seeds for breeding.

Thats absolutely true. By no means am I knocking fem or reg seeds. I use quite a lot of fem seeds, but when Im looking for a male to breed or when im trying to find a special non dominant pheno I use regs esp. since I have a few of my own strains.

Hahaha I love the wal mart reference that was right on point. Thats the damn truth about breeders not using fem seeds though because the range of keeper phenos or just a wider range of phenos all together come from the reg seeds.

The reason I actually reposted this is because I have seen threads, plural, with people claiming one thing to another about how genetically modified plants are almost...dangerous. Thats the word. Like theyre going to hurt them in some way, which if properly grown theres not much difference. Were not talking about using chemicals like Bushmaster or Phosphoload on living plants.

Whichever way people decide, Id rather they have actual facts rather than myths running wild when World of Seeds decides to tell the public how the Afghan Kush Special is made. Mainly because I use both fem and reg seeds for many different reasons, but that doesnt mean fems are dangerous or toxic.

I also have to post that colloidal silver is a chemical used to produce fem seeds. The way its done though is the colloidal silver is used to produce pollen balls on the female plant, but thats not the end of the process.

I had an ongoing post about this because people are saying that colloidal silver isnt a genetic modifier, but it is. Thats just the irst step though. Once the female produces the pollen balls, the use of an inhibitor, to prevent an overwhelming amount of continuing female buds is used so that the now isolated male pollen balls on that plant/cutting are the dominant sex.

Either, or...theyre all genetically modified by man. Im not bashing, Im informing. Since I do still like a wide range of the fem. seeds for a quick crop.
