Aeroponics Basic Questions from a Noob

Hey everyone at RIU! Still been learning alot from all of you guys here about marijuana growing. I guess aeroponics is usually a better system to grow your plants since it gives them more oxygen and makes them grow faster and better! I wanted to grow in soil before but now am concidering aeroponics to be a better option! I learned how to make a aeroponic unit from here:

But i still have some unanswered questions.
I know that :
1. Water should be changed in around a week or so to prevent nutrient problems
2.It should be Light-proof to keep alge from growing inside.
3. Just learned that the water needs to be 66 to 69 f to to prevent problems and to keep a good oxygen level in the water.


What I don't know is :
1. How often does the pump need to be turned on to water the roots?(i read it should be turned on for (1 minute and a 5 minute break) not exactly sure about that.
2. I wanted to grow about 3-4 plants in this unit so i guess thats who they will be watered rite, do i mist the leaves?
3. Can i put rockwool right into the brown rocks(i think theyre called hydrons)if i plant seeds into them?

Any other beginners information to getting started with this setup that i need to know throughout the entire grow! What else do i need to know to grow properly with this setup?thanks everyone for makin this a great experience!

There are some people running them 24/7 non-stop! The point of misting them is to deliver aerated nutrients via the misters. By doing it for 1 minute on, 5 off, you let the roots get a full shot of oxygen every cycle and you save on electric bills. Just another way to do it efficiently in my opinion.

Why, when you can just use neoprene and let them hang and grow in thin air. No mess and no extra costs.
