ok i keep hearing that growing with aeroponic people complain they dont get the same stinky bud as when you grow soil?
or it never smells the same
can someone explain why this would be? and if it is true how you get that soil grown smell?
how anout taking soil with no nutes and making tea bags with it??

From what I understand, in soil there are all kinds of biological processes that go on, and the result of this aids the plant's ability for secondary metabolic processes which is where the terpenes, ketanes and flavonoids are produced. These are part of the smell-producing stuff in the plant, and in hydro the secondary metabolism may be lacking. We try to boost those processes in hydro by using organic supplements like kelp.

HTH

My Sweet Tooth #4 plants in a hydro grow absolutely don't lack anything in stink factor. It's taking a couple of fluoro UV ozonators in the exhaust duct to knock down the exhaust air scents from my flood hydro op... and I'm thinking about adding a carbon filter.

Soil evangelists frequently wag fingers at hydroponic ops and go neener neener neener. I honestly think it's jealousy.
