Aerogrow For Idiots Guide?

Hey guys new to the site, I was just extremely interested in the aerogrow. A question that I haven't seen asked and I was just curious about. Do the different size models of the aerogrow have an impact on the outcome? Like would the aerogarden classic still be able to create results?

The deluxe one is the only one I would buy if I was looking for a micro grow unit. It can sustain taller plants than the classic. Taller plants equal more bud. You might not be able get more than a quarter ounce per plant with the classic. This is not to say you can't grow in the classic. People do it here all the time, I just think you should maximize your money with the bigger one.

as a first time grower, and someone who has absolutely no experience in growing absolutely anything. I see this as a solid chance to at least get familiar with the necessary information to be able to grow better. Thank you for replying to me, I was offered an aerogarden for $50 bucks and I only had one thing in mind for what to grow in it! So I definitely want to do it, and am gonna at least try it out. It just seemed like a majority of things I read on these forums were based on Pro models of the aerogarden.

Go for it!
There will always be a better, new and improved version...

I am having a great time with my "classic"...
Just keep in mind that you will probably not want FULL SIZE plants in such a small unit...

Clones... that is where it's at... in my opinion...

Check out the Mini Garden...

Good Luck!

I spent A LOT of time reading the mini aeroponic garden. All I have to say is that definitely encourages me to go further with this. How much were you able to produce with the classic? and what would you personally recommend?

This is the first time I am not outdoors, in the dirt...
I am hoping to get 7 grams from each plant...

Some people have laughed at that...
But if I can have 7 plants (right now I only have 6) with 7 grams each, that is 49 grams, or 1.7 OZ...

If I dial this system all in, and it works... I will have up to 4 AGs, 2 weeks apart, all flowering clones...

That would mean 1.7 oz every 2 weeks (or so)...

And that is plenty for me...

Now comes the disclaimer....

All this is theory from my head, stuff that I read here and there and used my own (screwed up) judgment to see right from wrong...

I have not yet produced those (or any) results in the AeroGarden...

I don't claim to be right, I am just sharing my ideas, I would hate to give someone bad advice because I'm nuts and didn't know any better...

Just my ideas...

Soooo... personally, I would recommend reading as many Grow Journals from page one to current as you can stand, use your own common sense and deff. seek advice from the people that KNOW...

I wish you the best of luck!!!

Thank you very much for your input, I am going to purchase the Aerogarden today. I am going to read as much as I can on these forums, and buy some books on growing as well. I read that you guys all buy a new pump, and some cfl lights. What would you recommend for this particular setup?

At least one airstone with a pump, You can get those at pet stores...
The more lights you have, the better off you will be, but you have to watch the temps... and the cost too, I imagine... I know I do...

As you know, I have the 2 AG lights, three 9 watt CFL's (2700k) and a 35 watt HPS (1900k)...

My idea is to give as much as possible of the red end of the spectrum (Fall Sun)... and so far, HPS has been hard to beat...

I may even get another HPS, because I have had no troubles with the temps, I may go with a 50 Watt (or maybe even the 70w)... But my fan is HUGE for my garden, the air doesn't stay in there but for a few seconds...

Since that is what I am doing, it would make sense to recommend that...

But... that is just what I am doing... and remember, this method has produced no results yet... it's all theory...

Oh! And you have access to one of the biggest grow libraries in the World, RIGHT HERE...
Make sure you use it!!!!

Have fun! and Welcome to the Micro-Growing Revolution...

Thanks so much Gypsybush, I am thoroughly impressed with your work so far. Congratulations on making a nice setup, hopefully the both of us can make some results! I hope to start another thread with progress soon so we could still talk about the setup etc etc.

Ok I just got the Aerogarden in, its the classic just like yours. I guess Im going to try and get the space set up first. Than what should be the next step? Is there an particular thread about what to do with the aerogarden?

The first thing I did to my AG was get a air pump and stone

and get new lights (costco $9 a piece)

The stock lights are pretty weak imo. They work for getting things going but not for flowering.

Good luck and have fun!

Im not having luck with clones out here, Austin is just hard to come across people that easily. So Im gonna start looking into seeds

Cool... Cool...!

Can you have a plant in a pot around the house?

You could raise your seeds... find your females... choose one.... transplant it to another, bigger hydro/aero or even soil... fill the AG with clones...

It is just ONE idea, there are a million ways to do this... and they all work for one person or another...

You just need to figure out what works for you... and that comes with doing it...

I will try to help as much as I can... but realize... I am used to throwing hand fulls of seeds in a field...... this is my first hydro/aero/indoor and I DON"T KNOW JACK!!!! and that is the truth...

But it seems to be working for me so far....

We'll have to wait for the results before I can affirm anything...

It's all just a guess... my best educated guess, but still a guess...

Well, keep on truckin'...

OK I just came across some seeds, what order should I approach going now? I know I need to purchase some air stones, a bubbler, and some new lights. But what are some specifications I should look for? I also was curious about what additional plant supplements I should get besides the nutes and such that came with the aerogarden. I have read nothing but good things about Fox Farm, so what products should I purchase?
