aerogarden nutes

i just started using the nutes that come with the aerogarden and i was wondering how long they last until i have to put another tablet in

Justin121: if you want to go that way a flashing red light will tell you when to feed, the problem is it won't tell you how much. You have to remember the A/G was designed to grow six or seven culinary herb plants, not M/J. If you're going to go with their nutes, good luck.

Aerogarden nutrients are now liquid. I've never used either the tabs or the liquid. I use Fox Farms Grow Big and Tiger Bloom. The problem I've had with storing the tabs is that they breakdown and leak through the packaging.

Ohnothimagin: It looks like your upcoming leaves are okay so it may just be a matter of your babies becoming accustomed to the nutes you're using. What A/G customer service told me when I was using their nutes was a little different from the instructions they were giving in the book that came with the A/G. They said to use the appropriate nutrient, whether it's liquid or tablet, feed on the schedule when the red light starts flashing and wash out the reservoir at every other feeding.

The problem I encountered with their nutes was that a tablet or liquid envelopes were designed for seven of their herb plants not the two or three M/J plants I was trying to grow. When I used their nutes, like you, I seemed to always have these little crisies, especially when my plants were small.

Additionally, their nutes are designed to quickly get you to a vegetative stage and then keep you there so you can feed off their herbs. Even after changing the lights from the 18/6 tomato schedule to 12/12 with an independent timer to force flowering I had a hell of a time getting them to bloom.

You might want to go to your local hydroponics store and see about better nutes for growing M/J. There are a lot of brands to pick from. Let me put in a plug for Technaflora's "Recipe for Success." I've been using it now for close to two years, it's very user friendly and I really like it. They give you recipes for each stage of growth from the seedling to harvest and all you need is a measuring cup and a pH tester and correction kit. You won't usually have these frequent parental concerns with your babies. They have sample kit for about $30 that will last you a long time with an Aerogarden.

an aerogarden is typically DWC or RDWC.

any synthetic nutrient line that can be directly uptaken by the roots is straight.

any grow micro bloom formula. My first aerogarden grow, i went with General Hydroponics. It's like the industry standard. Pretty much the extra medium of nutrient lines. Great for beginning. Go with w/e appeals to you. Look at sunlightsupply.com or any distributor and you can even find retailers near you on their website. I recommend trying something simple first. Maybe a botanicare kit. Pro Blend Grow and Bloom and Karma come together in a kit for 17.50 and it's sold at most hydro shops.
