aerogarden light question

Will the lights that come with the aerogarden ever burn the leaves of the plant?

yea, if you grow your plant too tall. you can't just use that light to grow weed. it's not that easy

i have an AG and the lights dont get that hot. yes if the plant it touching the lights obviously its goin to get to hot but i had my plants about 3" away from the light with no problems

Yes you can just use the lights in the AG it is that easy if you chose to make it so, and yes you can burn the plants if you basically have the leafs touching the lights, if not you can get anywhere from 1-3 inches away i would say 2-4" to be safe and reduce any stretching

Oh yes they will! I just had the pleasure of experiencing this. My Sugar Mango Ryder got way taller than what I thought it was going to and I freaked after finding that my flowering tops hit the lights... Every one of them burned TO A CRISP after hitting them. My answer was to quit trying to grow something in a contraption that wasn't meant for it. The plant has since been moved to a closet and placed under an LED light. You aren't out all that money you spent for the Aerogarden however! What you now have is a fantastic machine to start your autoflowering seeds in and then transplant to a bubble bucket! It truly is the best of both worlds and it is small enough that you can place it right into the closet with the bucket plant. Two or three weeks before your flowering plant is finished just start a new one and CAREFULLY remove the root plug and bury in the clay pebbles after the flowering one has finished! A constant supply... NICE I know this thread is hella old but I hope that someone finds it and heeds my warning! DO NOT FULLY GROW YOUR AUTOS IN THE AEROGARDEN!!!

Ive fully grown twice with an AG. Not to shabby.
!st grow the leaf tip hit the light and got burned though....so to stay on topic....an AG light CAN burn the plants

Phyrn: Unless they've changed their specs in the last year, the recommended height for your lamps is 1" to 2" above the tops of your plants. If you're ever in doubt use the, "Back of the hand rule." Put your hand, palm down, back side up, toward the light. If it feels hot raise the lights. I found early on that A/G's arm/light stand holes were too far apart for accurate adjustment and I made extra adjustment holes in between. I squared them off with little detail files and they worked great. You just have to keep a sharp eye on your plants because once they get going they can grow over an inch a day. Something to think about. HSA
