Advice Needed About Maturity

My first grow. These pics are of a Strawberry Cough. Started indoors. Now outside on 12/12. I cover at 12 hours with a large trash can.

My problem is i never took notes or have any clue as to how old this baby is.

I just sort of winged it as a first attempt.

Is it past maturity or too young. i see no green leafy bud and am lost. Do i pick now or wait?

I thought about just snipping a piece and trying it but would appreciate some guidance.

Next time I'll take notes.

Thanks

First off let me say that is some nice looking bud. Good job

That is no where near ready to harvest. One of the outward ways to judge maturity are the pistils(hairs). As the bud matures the pistils will turn red, brown, orange and receded into the calyxes. The way to truly know if it's done is to check the trichomes under magnification. You will be looking at the color of them. You want something like 85% cloudy few clear and a few amber.
Hang tight and keep up the good work. It will pay off
Like you said keep notes next time

Good luck, hope this helps

Polo:

Thanks for the help. I'm off to Radio Shack to get a magnifier. $20 well spent.

In my excitement I just never thought about notes and all.

It's funny i have a couple of plants grown in FFOF with FF nutes and a few in Miricle Gro no added nutes. to my eye they all look good.

I'm thinking next go round save money and go "natural".

My autos are looking spectacular (at least to my untrained eyes).
