Advanced nutrients

I know people who grow with AN and they are successful at it. If you use the whole line, as AN suggests, it is quite expensive. Also, you can't trust the AN growing chart because the nutrients are too strong. So, you'll have to cut all doses in half ... then learn to read the plants.

You can make things far more simpler for yourself than using AN products. Personally, I have used a two-part GH formula mixed in the proper ratios for both vegging and flowering. It worked great. Now, I'm using a more organic product ... Pure Blend Pro "Grow" and "Bloom" supplemented with CalMag. Great yield and taste!

Hey everone This is my first grow and I just got my Advanced Nutrients in the mail today.

I have 5 Planted the first 3 are 3 weeks tomorrow from start of paper towel germination. The smaller 2 are 1 week from start of papertowel Germination, SO pretty young plants i would say.

The Following is my setup.

Burmese Pure Sativa from Vancouver Seed Island

Grow tent with ventilation holes

150 HPS Light with Separate Ballast.

Humidifier (on timer) Humidity average 45-50%

Temperature Low of 70 F High of 85 F.

Oscillating fan for stem stregnthing.

Fans and Light are on with 18/6 Light Cycle

CO2 with Sugar and yeast pumping into a plastic cup with water (24r)

The 3 larger one i started with a Miricale Grow Soil.

Then after 2 weeks i got a BLACK GOLD SEEDLING MIX it has Canadian Sphagnum Peat Moss, Perlite, Dolomite Lime, and a Wetting agent.

Oh and i bought a big bag of Worm castings and mixed it 80% Soil And 20% Worm castings

Since the 3 older plants were already planted in miralce grow soil i just sprinkled some of this around the top so it would drain down some of the nutrients from the worm castings.

Now my question is. How do they look for being just about 2 weeks Vegging?

Do i need to add Nutrients cuz my plants dont look as healthy as i think they should Some of the leaves are spotting yellow Look at the pics.
They just dont look very happy what do i do?????

Should i use the NUTES i just got, but like a 20% of what is reccommended? Or is there to much nutes in the soil that its already in? Or is it from Over wattering?

Thanks alot!

poamgosmoke - I use pretty much nothing but AN because it's just the best stuff I've ever used (and not because I've never used anything else). I always recommend it to anyone that asks. IMO, it's always the best choice.

Yes, you have to be cautious with the concentration you mix up - that's true of every single nutrient and every single manufacturer. There's probably some truth to the angry statement that the nutrient people put those numbers as big as possible because they want you to buy as much as you can, but at the same time if all you ever do is barbecue your plants with nutes until they're dead, you're not going to keep buying their stuff, are you?

IMO, the reason you ought to mix weaker is simple: You ALWAYS err on the side of being too weak because you can always add more. It's impossible to get nutrients out of water once you put them in (at best you can just add more water to dilute it, if you have the room for more water.) But anyway, underfeeding is easier to fix than nutrient burn.

Different strains use different amounts of nutes. I just figure the manufacturers are using some super-hungry strains to determine their recommended dosage. Start off light, dial it up till the plants are full, it's pretty easy once you get the hang of it.

vantheman - Your plants look decently healthy to me. You probably ought to ask questions like this in your own thread rather than hijacking someone else's, though.

Your plants are definitely big enough to need feeding, but whether you've got enough in your soil or not is hard to say. Personally, I'd probably mix up a very light dose like you said and try that to see how it goes. Keep it light so that if you do burn them a bit it won't be bad. Honestly though, only one of your plants looked like it might need a bit more to eat to me.
