Adding ultraviolet light by using MH one week of every month in flower ?

Is swapping the bulbs worth the effort?

Will using 1000w MH in place of the 1000w HPS for one week every month (eg. 1st - 7th) in the flowering tent add significant ultraviolet light to my harvested buds ?

(Above cycle would average approximately two weeks of MH light per plant from flip to harvest)

I dont belive mh produce uv and if so its filtered out by the glass.
.05% of the mh light is UV, why would the glass filter it in particular? I'm trying to ascertain if it's worth the effort, thanks for the input

I'm currently experimenting with this cycle. I've grown entire crops under metal halide but I've never done this, I'm curious what others think ?

My goal would be to do this without adding another heat & light source, will the total of two weeks of ultraviolet light have a noticeable effect on the potency ?

Certainly, and what I'm doing is based on some reading that said to use UV for the last two weeks of flower, but couldn't do that in a perpetual and I wanted to try it so the next best thing I could come up with was this one week per month cycle

I'm trying to find out if it will actually make any kind of difference or not, the only thing I know for sure, having grown several crops under strictly halide in the last century (I grew like this my first couple years), is that the buds seem to be tighter and there did seem to be less of a yield, maybe around 20% give or take 5%

..for me that's established, but will the ultraviolet light from mh, used on the cycle that I'm able to provide make a difference ?

I'm about to find out, harvesting the first plant grown under this cycle right now?

and you are right, HPS = quantity, MH = quality .
Honestly back in the eighties and nineties my smoke was much more psychoactive, but I was growing the real skunk #1 back then and a few other things that I don't see around anymore, so can't really judge by that

That's interesting about that bulb, I'm going to look into it, thanks. I'm about to harvest one, maybe by the other side of the weekend I'll be able to give it a taste, it's 3rd or 4th generation so I hope to be able to notice if any perceivable difference ?

Also I've heard that CMH provides more ultraviolet light, is this true, and what studies might show this ?

i think they say to use that finisher bulb for the last 2 weeks. maybe you could work that into your setup.

cmh does provide uv as well. just find a spectrum chart and you'll see it dips into the uv range. i liked my results with it.

now i have DIY Cobs and added some actinic blue t5 bulbs too that dip into the uv range.

using a "finishing" or 10,000k bulb does good. I think it's the UV and 420nm.
my avatar is vegging with a 10,000k 400w mh
major SUNBURN/HEALTH possible hazard... you'd get sunburn in 30seconds at 3ft away with a 400w10,000kMH. that light coming out of a grow tent air vent is enough to make your eyes itch/sharp-feel.

based on your post I think you're looking for a t5 supplement
If i wanted more lights I would do HPS/10,000kMH 60%/40%
