'Active Duty Discharge' The military is purging experienced personnel on flimsy excuses

These guys have signed up for long contracts, up to 5 years. Many of them have Master's degrees, decades of service and training, etc. It's happening across all military branches.

The excuse is that there's been a breakdown of management and so the government can't process their clearances- so they're just getting kicked out.

I see something far more sinister- and in keeping with the current regime's desire to undermine democratic institutions and accumulate power;

They're getting rid of experienced NCO personnel in order to create a more pliable force, one that won't balk at following blatantly unconstitutional orders and acting directly against American citizens. Some examples of this have already happened- see how civilians were treated by military personnel during the Katrina crisis in New Orleans.

I'd dismiss this as paranoid in normal times. These are anything but normal times; America is in the throes of a Fascist Collapse of our Democratic system and an outright implosion of the underlying traditions and culture that have ensured that our system of respecting the Constitutional Rights of our citizens continues in spite of an occasional knucklehead in office.

Sadly, that no longer describes the political system in place today. The Patriot Act AND its reauthorization were passed by a majority of both sides of the aisle. That's just the tip of the iceberg. The recent SCOTUS ruling absolving police of almost all culpability for outright murder of civilians in the line of 'duty' is another stark and relevant example. Again, there are many, many more.

Same with the recent outrageously large 'defense' budget. The lack of questioning of historically large 'defense' contacts, while simultaneously praying that there is no money for social maintenance and welfare programs. Again, there are many more examples.

It is no longer enough to just occasionally show up at the ballot box; it's time to get involved and loudly voice our requirement that our government respect our constitutional rights and principles- that's all of them all the time, not just whichever ones they feel like on a given day- and stand in solidarity against the increasingly blatant fascist takeover of our Federal government. If we don't, we can reasonably expect that it will no longer be our government but will instead be an oppressive force without precedent in human history.

If you want to disagree, I invite you to bring refuting evidence. We must set aside our differences and debate this honestly.

The future shape of our nation and our place in it depends on our active participation.

Stalin did it too.

Gave him absolute control but it meant the Russian Army fell apart when Hitler eventually attacked.

Can't disagree with your post though, if true it is a rather troubling development.

Yeah. They really fell apart in Stalingrad.

Until then I will agree with your assessment. Stalin under equipped them and purged the best military leadership because he was afraid of their potential threat to his power. It almost cost him his job, his country and his life.

I do occasionally wonder how the world would have been different if Patton turned east at Berlin and did what had to be done to wipe out the Stalinists.

Thanks for the serious response.

All of my 'deep state' connections are privately freaking the fuck out.

Therefore I think it's officially high time to FREAK THE FUCK OUT, starting by telling all and sundry their country is being stolen from them.

Regarding the 'if true' part; it was headline news on NPR today.

or the Trump Admin is so fucking stupid they can't understand that people who serve but not yet a citizen, are indeed helpful and needed. This is another blunder by this Admin who are too fucking racist and ignorant to understand the repercussion of some decisions. Same reason that can't match immigrant children to parent now. PURE FUCKING IGNORACE when you are asking a 5 year old " where's your mommy " , when she has been deported already.

I have said it many times here and once again for your benefit; I volunteered for the army when I was 18 and was rejected due to poor eyesight.

It would have been a great experience for me, just as it was for my father, and it would have taught the obnoxious young punk that I was some badly needed discipline and direction.

If you go back and carefully read my posts you will find that I never, ever denigrate those who serve. I'm tough on the organization (all of them, as needed), I'm highly critical of the people and motives who send them into harm's way and I'm even harsh on those in uniform who dishonor themselves and their country... but never, ever do I disrespect those wearing the uniform, doing their job as best they can- or those who ever did. That holds true even if I disagree with their political stance, party affiliation or point of view.

If you can find any exception, feel free to call me on it.

I wrote every word. Original draft, even.

You're just jealous of original thought.
Did you try clicking on ramblingsfromauselessidealist.net ?

It was meant to be obvious that I was exaggerating your predilection for copy and past posts. I should know better.

Nice job on the writing. You did good work and should be proud. I'd put a star on the paper if I could.

Most of our volunteer military are country boys and girls who still believe in god and country. When I joined we all still believed in god and country but we were not abused at every turn. I wish nothing but the best for anyone who volunteers and tries to protect us from the fucked up world we live in today.

I know you will foam at the mouth for me saying this, but you invite evidence to the contrary while you have provided no evidence of your thesis - not a scintilla. This is an opinion piece. I am not saying that I disagree with it but for you to imply that it is anything but is ridiculous.

Maybe it is true. If so, post actual evidence rather than just repeating an opinion that got you juiced up. This is the worst of intellectual folly. Do your homework before waving your hands around and running in circles

Yah, if true.

The world wonders - and moves on.
