Ace Seeds- Golden Tiger

I'm harvesting some Golden tiger in about a weeks time. I thought I would start a thread for any onlookers and fellow Ace seeds growers who might be curious.

Smells range from carrot-mango to Lime-Mango and Mandarin orange. Height, must be managed indoors, and they require lots of root space otherwise when rootbound they stretch a bunch more and you'll start to see nutrient deficiencies.

Effect: depending on phenotype, the Meao Thai leaning plants last and last, very much a soaring racy effect. Malawi is almost the same with a slightly more introspective an clean in effect, better for wake and bake than the Thai.
Expect 4-6hr duration on a .5-1 gram joint. I'm not kidding, despite only smoking my own flowers for years, this stuff doesn't build tolerance like the others I grow. I want to see what the rosin potential on my keepers wind up being.

Flower time: ranging depending on light schedule. 12/12 most plants finish between 14-16 weeks. I flower my Golden Tiger on a 11/13 schedule so they only need about 12-14 weeks depending on how long I want to take them. The longer the better as far as duration of the high and quality/potency. Thai leaning plants take around a week and a half longer than the malawi.

IMG_20190511_115821811.jpg bottom right plant is Ace of spades, not GT. The rest are all varying typew of Golden tiger with the super lanky one in the back right being the alligator leafs Thai pheno. The others on the left side were all grown in 1 gallon pots, one of which is over 3 feet tall, and next to it is a "Golden Tiger" I trained like the one in front of it, but something about it is suspect. I know it sounds crazy, but it smells almost identicle to some Strawberry Daiquiri I grew for a year and couldn't keep. Limes, mangoes and hints of Berry, im thinking i might have mixed up these seeds, as they're frosting up only 2-3 weeks into flower, moreso than the rest of the GT. Only smoke will tell if it is, either way, if it is Golden Tiger, it's definitely the one I want to breed seeds with.

Somehow about 3 days ago, I unknowingly dropped 2 12 packs of Golden tiger regs into my sink as I was doing dishes, they fell from the cupboard above the sink, and the plastic baggie they're inside kept some moisture, and once a seed hits water, I can't not plant them, so I just put them in rapid rooters last night. I hope this mistake grants me something nice, otherwise what an utter fuckup on my end. This leaves me with close to 75 plants to manage, and new opportunities to find the male Golden Tiger I can use during the summer. I'll likely start them all 12/12 from seed and clone once they show sex, males to be moved outdoors for pollen collection

One thing I've noticed about this strain, is hermaphrodites tend to show their true nature early. Every Herm ive encountered has exposed itself within the first 2 weeks of flower. They may show female preflowers, but they expose thselves early enough to not cause any problems, obvious and easy to discern. So far 0 late term herms. No bananas or ballsacks on any of the fems I currently have in flower. I'll keep a close eye on the Thai girls just in case LoL.

It's the Thai dominant phenotype.it tends to like to reflower alot and takes about 16 weeks without training or alterations to light schedule. I have both Malawi and Thai phenotypes. There are 4 varieties in total that went into making Golden tiger in it's revisioned current form leaning more toward the Thai lineage. They used 2 different Malawi plants and 2 thai's. My favorite from last run was #8, a spear like pheno, extremely dense and resinous + easy to trim. Malawi smells like mangoes and carrots, the Thai more like mandarin orange tea. Some lime and pine smelling plants as well which seem to be 50/50 expressions.

Edit: also, the alligator phenotype stretches like 3-4x. Amazing for scrog I'm sure! Fastest vegging plant in my garden and a good cloner.

This is my keeper, #8, about 1 week left. IMG_20190513_050210610.jpg

Fingers crossed I get something Thai leaning. I have sampled GT once and the experience was similar to headband with no body. Wonderful stuff. I'm outdoors for first time which is one of my factors for choosing ace, stretch shouldnt be an issue.

If you are referring to number 8 that has at least a month left.
It looks that way but last time it finished in 13 weeks. The lowers are already good to harvest. It spits out new calyxes until week 18, but it's about 30% Amber at that point. I gage harvest based on trichs. She's about 12-13 weeks as it is.

I like mine about 80-100 cloudy, a bit clear and very little Amber trichs. This stuff is a rollercoaster if you harvest too early, and a psychedelic when harvested too late lol. Keep in mind I'm running lights at 11/13 so a week is a bit more sped up.
