If you simply use an exhaust the room replacement air will have to come into the room from the leaks in your room. The AC air isn't fresh its recycled if your talking about your home ac unit. A portable unit with an intake from the outside ould be the only ac that would bring in fresh air. The only way to make sure your ac is really bringing in fresh air is to check the pressure boundary of your house when your ac is on. if you leave your front door unlatched and it swings open when you turn on the ac it means you have a negative pressure inside which means you're drawing fresh air inside. A way to tell if that air is coming or going into your room is to face the door when its closed and the ac is on and see if you can feel air flowing from around the edges if your ac is really running a high pressure you can tell which way the air is flowing (of course this also may not work at all if your HVAC isn't drawing that much air a way to increase this flow is to take out the filter before you try that test to increase the flow). By having an exhaust fan in the room you will make the airflow to the room highly negative refreshing the air which is something that is vital for growing don't skimp on a fan its often the most overlooked vital piece of equipment.
Hope that helps.
Depends on the volume of the room really. Cut a hole size and exhaust fan dependent. The bigger the room the bigger the vent. Just leave the exhaust fan on all the time it will draw the air in from below if there is a larger ventilation area connecting the pressure boundary to the room below rather than the attic or from upstairs windows. Is it a second story or an attic.
If you have multiple rooms you may have to change this strategy slightly. How many rooms are there I need specs to be able to advise you correctly the science behind proper ventilation isn't easy to advise without proper details.
Just ask if you have any questions about how I word what I say as well.
Just keep the fan on exhausting at all times and if you keep it moving out it shouldn't go down stairs under any circumstance. You also have convective currents running upwards pressing all the hot air out of the home as well so it really should't be a problem at all. The air will be sucked in from around the door unless you made it absolutely airtight which you probably didn't do, which you should not do do not seal any doors. Don't blow air into the home from outside of it simply blow it out of the rooms this will automatically pull the air from downstairs and the downstairs air will be replace by outside air or if you have a raised foundation 11% from under the home. (thats where 11% of the air we breath in raised foundation comes from on average.)
The Y is a good instance except I don't fully understand is it a bathroom vent with an installed Y from multiple rooms? Heres an idea for a cheap Y for more than just 2 splits. Take a trashcan with a lid like a 32 gallon snapon lid(from wallmart $15) take the fan your using with the carbon filter attach it to the suction end and put it in the trashcan. Make it so the air duct goes through the top out of the room from the exhaust end of your fan. Now cut holes into the side of the trashcan this will be your new Y attachment instead of a sheet metal piece. Now close the lid. This way just one filter sucks all the air through the can which acts as a large filter air intake cleaning box. Cheaper too connectors ar 15-30 and a can can get tons of duct branches if you sped the $ to get a good fan for exhaust.
Understand? I can still get onto the math of those rooms in a bit if you don't have any questions on my suggestions so far.
sorta kinda, when your saying series my 6 lights will sit like this correct = = = . im still a little unsure about the trashcan. it sits horizontal correct and it is in growroom1? is the fan sucking the filter on the outside mounted on the trashcan lid? and when u say poke two holes, since the trash can is horizantal, in realitly its the bottom of the trash can and on the lid? or the actual sides of the trash can when standing up right? and the second rooms seems like it dont have any air sucking thorugh it... its kinda hard to tell what your saying without a drawing, im sorry. if you can sketch a quick drawing if you dont mind. i really appreciate it. thanks
o my. I think you are going a bit to fast for your own good my friend. Drop the C02 and concentrate on getting them temperatures dialed in
alright, thanks bro! so in the grow room, on the other ends of the lights, do i just leave it open(where the 0 is shown beow? because i know the one closes to the bathroom walls will b used with a Y fitting lights 0 === >--wall--fan-trashcan setup-fan--< === 0That could work pretty well, just make sure that you use the bigger cfm fan on the trashcan. you can still use one Nice carbon filter instead of two using the can system. I'd use the three fans it'll make sure that the air pressure in each room will be more equal too that way. You will also have more fresh air being pulled into each of the rooms.
also, during the winter season, would there be heavy steam coming out the vent from the roof that are from the hot air from the two rooms? wouldnt this raise some suspicion? how can i fix this. That could work pretty well, just make sure that you use the bigger cfm fan on the trashcan. you can still use one Nice carbon filter instead of two using the can system. I'd use the three fans it'll make sure that the air pressure in each room will be more equal too that way. You will also have more fresh air being pulled into each of the rooms.
