? about lights/vegging/flowering

hello

i am a newbie grower. That i admit

Started a couple of weeks ago. Got a small set up in my bathroom. After germinating I put plants under a cfl-light for about two weeks (16/8. I am now using a high pressure sodium light on 12/12.

The plants seem happy.

Am I doing something wrong here? Will the plants not flower?

Read a cpl of older treads and got the impression that its me, the grower, who decides when the flowering period start simply by changing lights....

a plant is best to have 4 weeks vegg or to the size 1 foot in size, and yes its up to you when you goto 12/12.
i wouldnt put a plant under hps untill 4 weeks vegg.
i would vegg a little longer more vegg time more bud.
a plant grows 2 to 3 times the size in 12/12 it was in vegg.

but i only have a hps light and cfls. My worry is that my cfls dont produce enought light for vegging 4 plants that are getting, if not big - then bigger.

Hey ya onebyte,

When you go to veg again just go to 18 hours of light for another two weeks or so. It's the amount of light the plant gets, not the type of light that keeps it in veg or starts flowering.

You can use the hps to flower if you wanted to or add a few cfl's until it's time to flower. Just make sure not to burn the plants by putting them too close to the hps.

i think i might have started the flowering process already????

my plants have started smelling (that gooood smell...) i put nose close and inhale .. and yes it smells!

the plants got 3x 12/12

is it too late for further veg?? or is smell not a sign of flowering in progress..?
