Trying to work out next grow in my head and I think I need more red for bud density. Good smoke off the first XGS grow, but it was definitely a little airy.

Has anyone tried adding a couple of the shelf Cree 2700k? I'm thinking maybe one bulb in rear and one on each side will add a decent amount of red colour.

Yes, those will work, CaptainMorgan supplemented his XGS grow with the 2700K Cree LED's, and got good results.

Do you think the rw 150 is a better choice then the xgs? I have a Apache at120 all white and, a Apache at 200 that is white and red. I see bigger colas on the at 200 I know it's a stronger light but I feel like that red makes a big difference. I could be wrong I don't know much about this stuff.

Not having a 150, I can't really say, but some red spectrum wouldn't have hurt.

DIY growers on RIU are having excellent results using only 3000K Cree COBs, but their spectral output depends on the bin .

To be safe 5% @ 5000K + 3000K + some 625-650 will produce nice fat nuggz, PLUS, it can also veg in a pinch. Better if the reds are on a separate o/o switch to be flipped on once buds set
