I have noticed in recent months that there has been an increase in prohibition lobbying. One of their favorite things to say about marijuana is how is can cause Cancer and Tachycardia.
First of all I'd like to kill the cancer threat right off the bat. It is a proven fact that more people in the U.S. contract cancer through the use of Tobacco than any other cause known to man. Seriously, a person can get cancer simply from living in a large city and breathing poor air quality day after day. They have no leg to stand on, the way I see it.
As for Tachycardia, that is a different story. People claim that the use of marijuana is directly related to Tachycardia. In case you don't know Tachycardia is an electrical imbalance of your heart that causes irregular beating or fluttering. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/tachycardia/DS00929 (Be sure to read: Definition, Symtoms, Causes, Risk Factors, Complications)
I smoked marijuana for 5 years, and the only symtoms of "tachycardia" I experienced were during the use of an anti-anxiety prescription medication. After all, anti-anxiety medications can be very tricky. Anyone who has taken one in their lifetime can tell you this. Some people experience a sedated effect, others experience a hightened sense of their fight or flight response. (Survival Instinct)
How messed up is that? A pill that is supposed to help your anxiety can actually make it worse! No thanks I'll stick to an herbal remedy
When I reviewed my symptoms with my doctor, I found they were more directly related to panic attacks than tachycardia. People who claim that use of marijuana causes tachycardia clearly don't know their facts, or have something against it's use in general.
I believe that stress, panic or anxiety associated with the use of marijuana is directly related to it's prohibition. If a person uses marijuana, one may fear incarceration and stiff fines. This is enough to cause panic in anyone.
Imagine if coffee was outlawed. Would you feel comfortable walking down the sidewalk with a hot coffee in your hand if you knew it could land you in prison?
When marijuana is used in a safe location such as an Amsterdam coffeshop with no prohibition or hassle of law enforcement all stress, panic, or anxiety become virtually transparent.
