A slug topped my plant for me...?

So i currently have three 1 month old bagseed plants growing outdoors, and for the past week it has been raining. I am not too worried about overwatering, but the real problem is that the rain brings out the slugs. My plants have been attacked by slugs multiple times and seem to have grown back that much stronger (little stress).

Today i was sad to see that a slug bit off the most recent growth off of the main shoot completely- one side was completely bitten off and the other leaf was half eaten. It almost looks like a botched attempt to top the plant. It is early to tell but It seems like this may grow back with three main colas, with the half leaf + the other half of the node which will grow back as two.

Does this seem possible? It may be hard to understand without a picture which I will upload tomorrow but i think if it doesnt stress the plant too much it could turn out beneficial. Any thoughts or advice for avoiding slugs would be greatly appreciated!

you're outside, right? maybe lay down some sort of salt barrier around your plants, not close enough to hurt them though...like 10 feet away from the plants all the way around? i don't grow outdoors so i haven't had this problem...

So the plant was accidentally slug-topped about three weeks ago and guess what? three main colas! werd to that, i never thought id be thanking slugs. since the slug infestation began i have been maintaining three cups of beer around the plants, and added a three foot salt ring around all of the pots. what beer do slugs prefer? PBR of course!
