A question regarding solvents

I was reading some teks and came to the part on solvents. The exact tek is about extracting dxm but my question pertains to all acid/base extractions. For the part that says I'll need a non-polar solvent the teks always list zippo lighter fluid. Can one use any non-polar solvent such as Benzene, hexane, or toluene? I guess my question is has anyone here used these as a substitute for zippo lighter fluid or used anything else that I didn't mention? Do any have better results? Just a general question really to start a discussion.

Yes, people have used many different non-polar solvents for extractions, some of which you already mentioned. Some work better than others in terms of solubility and evaporation. Always do an evap test to ensure a clean solvent.

Dear friend ... people do not know what to make out of you.
I look at you as per

And think .... how can this dude not know that ... zippo fluid is industrial grade ... hence ... dirty .... aka bur burning shit.
Chemicals are a Warfare as you can Poison yourself quite easily .... that is scary.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

I never used zip lighter fluid before but the one in the yellow container. That left a residue. That's why I was wondering if anyone had personal experience with any other solvents.
