A 'note' to fellow newbies.

I've been a member for awhile, but this summer just started using the forums. I'm also new to using forums, so it's taking awhile to learn and sometimes I still doubt myself.

This summer has been my very first grow and lemme tell ya it's been an experience...a good experience.

One of my frustrations was getting people to respond to my pleas of help.

Firstly look through the forum lists carefully and choose the right forum to post in. Look for a subtopic that is similar to yours.....share your pics and concerns, and don't be afraid to call yourself a Newbie....

Take photo's (without grow lights on). Upload photos with your questions or problem. Give details about the soil, the nutes you're using, etc. etc.

There are some short tempered members here....so don't be discouraged if someone calls you an idiot. In time the right members will find you and start answering your questions, which is starting to happen with my posts and I'm truly grateful.

Most importantly......don't be rude, or fight, or be a dick in general. We're all here to share, learn, and communicate. In these tense legal, and political times, don't people get tired of arguing or making nasty comments on posts?

Please and thank you still go a long way. You can disagree with someone but you don't have to be a dick about it.

Newbies learn from 'Oldies' and every once in awhile an Oldie might learn from a Newbie.

And second most importantly.....don't give up. :peace::peace::peace:

So is that a Rabbit Dog or A Dog Rabbit ?
That Bear420 is Mr. Horus Montgomery. I had to have him put down Thursday before Christmas 2018. He was my first male dog and my first basset. Very loyal but very stubborn breed. He was part of a pack of three bassets, I have another male and a female. All my dogs 9 counting the two living ones, have been rescues.

As far as getting him to wear those rabbit ears....erm.......it wasn't easy. :wall:

This. Totally! Do a site search first for the problem that's present. Try a basic Google search, and see if it was answered elsewhere. Spend a little time doing research first, then (IMHO) more people will be willing to contribute their time to help.

Thanks Dougnsalem for the advice.
Yes I google a LOT of things I wanna know about, and quite often find my own answers.

Do you have a particular Youtube member you go to? I find those videos to be informative. There are a few people I subscribe to on there.

Was just trying to help ya out, but apparently you take that pretty poorly. Probably why you think more people here are dicks than really are, the problem is simply you.
You might be right that the problem is me.......but I don't think so. I don't strike out at people in person or behind the anonymity of the computer. Our lives are too short for that.

The words you used certainly didn't seem to be trying to help me out.

Never-the-less if we shouldn't type in colour or change the text size, why is the option there? And I like to use the colour to thank people for responding and commenting.

I'm really quite grateful to have people respond and tell me their experiences.

Anyway, I'm done with this.

Thank you for your input.

Theres lots of options, and lots of words to use. But in the 9 years I've been here that's my experience. Take it for what it is, or leave it as a insult. It could be part of why your threads didnt get a response and you had to hop on others posts for a response. Seems to me MOST new topics, even if redundant, get answered.

A lot gets lost when you type instead of speak, and things get taken the wrong way.

The main issue I see with this forum is: everyone is right, no one is wrong. Everyone grows the best and they know everything. No one can handle criticism, not even if its constructive. If you say something that opposes their viewpoint, they go on unhinged attacks instead of debating or brainstorming.

If some one has an opposing viewpoint: listen to them, research what they say to see if it is true, and gain something from the conversations you have. This works for everything in life, you will never grow if you don't expose yourself to new viewpoints and experiences.

If you can't find anything that supports their claim, then debate/argue. Don't treat everything as a personal attack, its just a different point of view.

I am not even sure how you guys even have conversations with people in real life with the way you act on here. It would look a lot like this:

Waitress: "Hi, what can I get for you today?"

You: "IM NOT a FATASS THAT JUST DINES OUT ALL THE TIME IM JUST HERE BECAUSE I WAS INVITED YOU STUPID BITCH"

I am pretty sure that's what I said in my original post. And I wasn't arguing nor did I feel I was being personally attacked with growingforfun's comment. And....I'll type in colour if I want to.......

However you are correct in what you say. Communication, participation, and not getting butt hurt are certainly good rules to go by.
