For the most part, other than a few speedbumps along the way having to deal with flushing my crap miracle grow soil to keep it from nute burning my plants. they're starting to look a bit healthier and showing signs of growth again. with that, healthy growth is starting to form as well. I'm doing my own variation on a PC growbox and so far i've been very successful with keeping my plants from stretching but i cant tell if my plants are healthy or not. i know that some of the leaves have nutrient burn and probably a little bit of heat burn from having the lights too close on accident. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated. Keep in mind im planning on fully growing this in the PC and already have the chickenwire ready for a scrog setup when needed. I don't really want to have to transplant from the 16 oz cups but if i have to, i will probably stick to something that will still fit in the box. I am including pictures!! :weed:

a few more pictures of the setup and more of my biggest baby. The beauty of this setup is that it cost me less than 30 bucks to set up...i already had the PC case, fans, power strip, soil (though i wish i had something else)...but i'm trying to successfully grow on extreme budget, the entire purpose of this grow. The only things i needed to purchase were the CFL's, light socket plugs (less than a dollar a piece), and the nutrients and solutions for flowering and cloning. I'm crossing my fingers for females!!! bongsmilie

They are looking pretty good. Great job on the no stretching, some of those leaves do look a little funky but overall great job so far!

Keep a look out for some square pots, that will help with space when you transplant.

Yea they haven't stretched much, they sure are taking their sweet ass time though. patience is a virtue i know, and i couldn't ask more out of bagseeds. One thing i will learn from this experience is that unless you flush the shit out of your soil, Miracle grow potting soil is a nightmare to deal with. time release nutes are more or less what almost killed my plants. but I'm hoping with this setup i'll be able to atleast veg without having to add any extra nutes. Anyone know anything about that Superthrive stuff? i know its good for treating shock from transplants but is it any good for helping a plant stay healthy and growing just as a supplement when watering?

Superthrive claims the moon, but it is supposed to help with stress of all kinds so it might be cheap insurance for you.

forget superthrive, thats not an answer for this small(no pun) problem.
way to much water! Let it get bone dry, before the next time you water.
Don't force food! As much as it helps growth it can stun it as well.
I can not say this enough, the plant will show signs of what she needs and what she don't need.
Your plant doesnt need water or hormones.

gotcha. thanks. i normally wait until the soil gets pretty much dry down to about an inch before i re-water them. But i checked them again today when i got home from work and the larger one just showed a significant amount of growth. because of the amount of lighting i have in the box it tends to dry out really quickly, especially since i have it on a 24 hour light cycle. usually i water it every other day or every 3 days. ill lay back watering for a bit and see what happens. the new growth coming in looks pretty healthy. i haven't quite learned what signs to look for for what they do and dont need but thats what this experiments all about..learning. I'm about to try and add more lighting with some socket splittlers. i'm thinking about grabbing 3 of the warm/orange lighted CFL's. if not to use now, to use when i go to flower, heat and money are both a concern for my set up so i wont be using HPS lighting unless i absolutely have to. do you think 3 more light will be too much? the good thinh with the splitters are they will kind of diagonalize the lights so the plants get more of the side of the lighting.

A couple more pictures, the new growth is coming in alright, i'm gonna stop watering for a few days, see if that fixes the problem.

Alright, here are the pictures. they're definitely starting to perk up a bit!

Here are a few pictures of the plants. I changed the way the lights are directed, though they arent sideways, they're angled now so more light gets to the plants...i think its helping. I also threw in an extra soft white CFL to give it a little more light. (not shown in the pictures) :eyesmoke:

with a small grow of this size, when should i start flowering? I'm not doing it right away, but a little pre knowledge would be nice. and would i need to transplant to bigger pots for a scrog?

Yes, you'll need bigger pots. If you have no time constraints, I would shoot for about one month of Veg and then switch to Flowering.

Tell me if this sounds okay as far as transplanting goes. i'm switching over from these solo cups to light sealed 24 oz disposable tupperware containers. Its almost a full 16 oz bigger than the other ones, but its small enough to still fit inside of my pc box. drainholes are already put in. should this be sufficient enough for the space i am growing in?

Sounds good. if you fill up the space they kinda have to work. Have you searched for other computer grows? I bet there are lots of ideas floating around out there for pots in those threads.

Tell me what you think so far. everything look right? This is my first time attempting a grow...so i'm kinda winging it based on reading other threads.
