A/G PH Problem..Lowlife Auto AK47

So I've been having PH problems with my aerogarden. I just started 48hrs ago, I put in ph balanced(5.8 distilled water). I waited 24hours to check the PH again and my meter was reading PH of 6.1. I added a couple of drops of PH down and got it back down to 5.8. Then just now 24hrs later I went to go check my ph again and it was 6.5. I readjusted my PH again by adding a couple drops of ph down and got down to 5.6.

Does anyone no why it is flucating like this? I have a 4inch airstone with air pump. By researching I was told the airstone will cause my PH to drop that's why they say to keep the PH on the high side when you add the ph adjusted distilled water but it's doing the opposite.

I have a PH-600 meter that is calibrated. I also have PH strips to test my PH.

EZdank: from what I've been told every nutrient that is taken up by your plants changes the water chemistry a little and with such a small reservoir, less than a gallon, it's an ongoing problem. This is why we have to check and adjust our pH every day and it's recommended that we change the reservoir contents every week. I used to freak out now I just readjust and enjoy the process.

Ok so this is normal. I plan on checking the PH daily and changing the res. every week. I already stocked up on 12 gallons of distilled water. My only other question then is adding to much ph down or up going to affect the plant? Since I will be using it daily.

If you keep it balanced to 5.8 pH there should be no problem and if you look at the color chart that came with your pH test kit you should see that almost all the elements are absorbed at different pH levels. If you return it to 5.8 they should keep eating until they've exhausted most of the nutrients. That's why we change nutes weekly. By the time you toss it there's not that much left. When you pH up or down all you're doing is balancing it back to the point where they can absorb those remaining nutrients. When they get a little bigger into the veg stage they've going to eat you out of house and home like hungry teenagers. Enjoy.

I agree with HSA. Regulating pH is always a chore in the AG, but I agree that you have to check it daily and adjust.

Alright thanks a lot guys. Today I checked it was 5.9ph @ 12pm. I just checked it again and it was stable at 5.9ph @ 7:30pm. I added a drop of ph down just b/c I want my ph to be between 5.6-5.8 all the way threw the grow. I will constantly check this. I'm going to write up a grow journal either tonight or tomorrow.
