you should really get them into seperate pots, otherwise the roots will all entertwine and kill the plants,

No that sounds good, but I recommend to water only when the soil is dry for the first few inches or when the plant tells you to by begging to droop. If the soil is always wet then the roots aren't getting any oxygen and that will kill your plants. I usually stick my finger in the dirt until it is up to the last knuckle and if I feel really damp soil, then I just keep waiting. Though it may look wet on top it could be soaking down below.
