A Few Exhaust/Intake...

Hi guys,

I've been building a 12x10x9.5 (LxWxH) room. For lighting, I'm going with 6 400w HPS lights & 2 side lights per wall (8 fluorescents total) for 6 plants. Might sound like overkill in lighting per plant but I'm set on keeping it legal to 6 plants and I've been dying to grow a pure sativa since I can get mudblood strains (hybrids) from the clinic any day. I've seen setups with pure sativas with 1 light per plant + only 1 week vegging & lots of topping- looked like good sized plants but I have the space.

Exhaust fan questions:
12x10x9.5 = 1140 cf
1. Should I be replacing the air 3 times per minute? That would be 3420 cf, seems like a lot. Maybe just once per minute? Guess it all depends on the heating.
2. I was thinking it would be best to have two fans- one that directly sucks the air from the HPS lights, and one that just removes air from the room itself. Do you think is a good idea or do you recommend another way? maybe just one fan?
3. It seems like most people go with inline to keep it quiet. is inline the best way to go?

Intake vent:
4. for the amount of air I'm replacing (1140-3420 cf, don't know how much yet), what kind of intake filter would be sufficient? I read HEPAs taking some strong fans, so I was thinking something else would be a better idea.

Thanks for your help in advance!

Changing the air once every 3 minutes is fine , so get a 8'' inline ( i recommend vortex ) 750cfm .
Get a carbon filter big enough to handle all that air being sucked in ( ask the guy at the store ).
If u got the extra $ i also recommend getting a second inline 8" vortex to suck air from outside , throu
your cool tubes and then out again . It will help keep temps lower . Also note- Getting a smaller inline fan (6'' 550 cfm) will
help allot against air leaks , less air being pushed in room = impossible for smell not to get filtered... the air from ur house will get sucked in the room !

ok so an intake fan (8" 750 cfm) that pulls air through the tubes with an exhaust fan (8" 750 cfm) going out. only thing is I just realized I'd have to buy 6 air cooled hoods which gets pricey. Could I just have an exhaust for the whole room or are air cooled hoods really the way to go?

Also, I'm gonna be attaching the exhaust onto a bathroom exhaust, which goes out the roof. Would I still need a carbon filter?

If you dont have air cooled hoods , Get an 8'' bringing air in the room with a speed control . Ur gonna need a decent sized filter about 2' high (buy a 8'' flench to screw on top) . 8'' inline place it on your filter then send the air out side ( you should make a whole in cealing and find a way to let the air escape with no pressure ... like if your thinking of sending a 8'' ducting blowing 700cfms into a small 4'' ducting 6'' if your lucky ( bathroom exaust fans have tiny ducting ) well that wont work.
Since your only putting 6x400 watts you only have 2000 watts ... and in that size of a room you might not even need an a/c if your lucky . if not a 10k btu will be more then you need.

ok so no exhaust, just an intake?

btw, thanks for your help
