hi, i have a white rhino growing under 2 x 125w enviro cfl. 1 red 1 blue. the veg stage was amazing, but i have been flowering for a week now and nothing seems to have changed at all. plants look fine and plenty of room left for roots. i lst'd 2 weeks before flower and it responded well. am i just being a little impatient.
i have taken 3 clones off this when lst'd how long do they take to root, i am thinking about a 250 hps for flowering these, will a 250 be ok for 3 small plants. ideally i want to harvest an ounce a month, that will keep me going.
can i take a clone off a clone, flower the first then take a clone off the second, flower that etc. will the strain get weaker? sorry for the long post i tend to ramble after a smoke
 
In your Veg area you wanna keep a couple of mother plants. You do not flower those mothers, you just keep them alive and take clone cuttings from them.

You can replace the mothers with clones you taken from the mothers and it will not weaken the plants genes. Just keep the plant healthy. If you take a clone of a sick mother the clone can be sick too.

Or if you take a clone from a happy mother and you let the clone get sick then yes you can weaken the strain.

But if your not stressing the plants then they will not have problems with genes.
 
cheers dude +rep sounds like i can do what i am planning, now is 250w hps enough for 2-3 plants at a time.
is 1oz a month realistic with what i am doing?
i thought 2-3 cuttings every month, so it turns into a perpetual affair
 
If you wanted to harvest 3 a month you would need to accomodate 6 plants under your 250HPS, make clones once a month and Im guessing you want at least a week of veg time to get to a desireable height. I would even suggest a 250MH for mothers and possibly veg clones if there is enough room. I keep 4 mothers and 6 vegging plants in a 2 ft x 4 ft closet under 400MH.
 
again thanks for the reply. u say 6 plants, i assume 3 are a month further along than the other 3. i plan on having 2 area's 1 for veg 1 for flower. One of the area's is only 2 ft tall by 1.5 x 1.5, about the size of a bedside cupboard, is this enough for my cuttings/mother. will 3 small plants produce an ounce? i have no need to get greedy it's just personal smoke ya know
 
You wont have enough room for a mom in that space. Your best bet would be to make a cabnet at least 2.5 ft high so you could have at least a 2 ft high area under a 250MH. If your going to grow with limited height your going to need to learn how to make your mothers wide and short. To do that youll have to make a bonsai mom something that Ive been unable to do to this day. My moms get too tall I just flower them and start a new mom.
 
yeah, thought so, will have to flower the mom every few months and use one of the clones as the new mom as you said. i think i may have to build my own veg cabinet a little bigger, but i'm not very handy, i tend to make a lot of firewood lol:fire:
 
We went to Lowe's and bought a cheap white cabinet that is 4x2x6, I think it was $119-you can build cheaper but if your not handy its a good solution. Its even painted white already but I plan to line it with maylar.

I'm planning on doing a similar set up to you but slightly bigger. I have 5 85 watt cfls in that veg cabinet I bought from Lowe's. Than I have a grow tent that's 3x3x6 with a 400 watt HPS w/hortilux bulb and digital ballast. I'm a medical patient and allowed up to 12 plants. So, I hope to keep 6 flowering at all times and have that perpetual cycle with clones. I've heard that the amount of bud you get is greatly in proportion to the amount of light they receive. If you've got adequate light, you should be able to get at least an oz off each plant, that's my hope anyways!

I keep mother plants in a small box with less than 2 ft of vertical space. It's easy to do, once you give them a bit of training to maximize the amount of tops available to clone from. The trick is to keep them in small pots, take cuttings regularly (even if they are not needed), and trim the roots and add fresh soil when they start getting rootbound.

Bonsai mother plants are great when you have limited space, and can be surprisingly productive.
 
cheers guys rep all round, great community here. i think i'm gonna buy a sml wardrobe for my veg instead of messing around building stuff, or maybe a tent, are they any good? 250w will be ok in a sml tent right?

yeah they have some nice one's but i am in europe. i bought a little cab from a charity shop today for £20 it's 3'6" tall so should be okay.
on the clone subject i was advised that planting cuttings in pure soaked perlite works very well. anyone else do this?
