Hey guys I'm on my 8th week and I cant tell if the buds are ready. The plant is a 8-10 week plant so I'm thinking another week would be good.

I can't tell what the color of the trychomes are they seem... white. but I can't tell because the entire grow room is a yellowish tinge because of the lights. Anyway, I'll post pictures so you guys can fill me in a little bit.

is it ready for harvest you mean :)

get out to your local odds and sods shop and buy yourself a 30x magnifying glass. i know exactly what you mean about the light, i havn't gotten used to it yet, keep thinking argh they're dying or somehting, put my hand between the plant and the light and it's all good again :D

You're looking for mostly milky, or cloudy (not white), with some amber (up to 50%). Once amber heads start to out-pace new clear heads you're at the point of diminishing (THC) returns.

You should really have 30x - 100x magnification to view trichomes clearly. Radio shack has a nice little lighted pocket microscope for like $12 - a must for any serious grower IMHO

What magnification is that in the pics, 15x? From what I can see; they look mostly cloudy, with some amber, so I would flush - if you haven't already - and harvest.

really? you can see the trics in those photos close enough to determine the colors of the trics? from the looks of it you can harvest now or in a week. i like to let mine go as long as possible for max potency, but you don't want to go too long, or as said above thc diminishes.:peace:

yeah it dose look ready or nearly ready,,,, give it another week then chop chop....

get a scope and check for sure..... the 2nd picture you can see milky amber so looking good

You can't see the amber trichs in those pics?

30x or better magnification is what he needs

The pictures I took are just really close up pictures with my camera using auto focus. I'm not sure if theres a specific magnification. I do have a 10x magnifying glass somewhere in my house which gives a good view but 30x I couldnt imagine how good of a view that can give. I'll try to find one.

I can't post pictures of them under the magnifying glass though.

Another thing that troubles me is that theres spider mite damage on some fan leaves and some nug leaves which makes me think I might need to harvest sooner than later incase the mites kill the plant.

As for the lower buds, they're still small and still shooting out white hairs constantly but there so covered in kif like way more kif than any of the big buds, does this mean these guys are just little dank nuglettes or should I let them continue to grow since there hairs arent orange and still shooting out hairs like no ones business.

What is flushing btw, I'm assuming its cutting mostly all fan leaves off but I'm not certain.

Flushing is when you give your plants nothing but water or water and molasses for a week (or longer) for the sole purpose of the plants using up whatever nutrients it has left. You do this so your weed burns clean and doesn't taste like shit.

Cut off a tiny pice of bud and look at it ouside the grow room under your 30x scope. Look at the trichomes from the top, not from the side. From the side they ussually always look clear. When they look milky you are golden. I wouldn't wait for too many amber ones but that's me.

alright so I should start flushing it a week before harvesting? My plant has some red stems from a previous nutrient issue which means its deficient of some nutrients right so isn't there risk of it getting under fed during that time and dying? I'm also seeing some yellowing on lower leaves, is this attributed to some sort of nutrient deficiency?

can you use molasses in hydroponics? and what does it do exactly?

yellowing is good it means the nutrients are getting used up so there not locking it out.

those look rready for the kill they wont get much bigger at this point just change type of buzz and taste .

look at sugar peak catylist Earth juice its organ and mineral based so will work in both. works well for finishing off when u gotta cut em

u should nt use molasses in hydro cos it will clog up the system

Nutrient issues can to caused by too much, too little or wrong PH. Every hydro grower should own a good multi meter. I like the green Milwalkee.

As for flushing, plain water does the trick. I think what flushing products do is actually draw the chemicals out like sponge. Plus, I think they leave some sugar in your bud to increase weight.

Thanks for all the help guys. I'm starting flushing today meaning no nutes for a week. I'll keep the post updated incase anything goes horribly wrong.

Is there anything I should know about flushing like some tips or something.

i took some pictures of the red stems this morning you can see it is that something thats normal from a plant at this stage? They're red and havent gotten worse or better since they first turned red.

don't use anything but water why add chemicals to the finished product

because there are nutrients in the soil and every time u water it releases them. sugar peak is supposed to break down all the nutrients and feed them to the plant and help them finish quicker,

lets see some pictures of the whole thing, those are some nice looking nugs from cfl's. I am assuming you used cfl's because of the one in the picture. good luck

Looks very nice m8 :)

Give it a week on no nutes , - cut watering for the last 3 days and have it spend some time in the dark.

Get ready fur curing and baking ;D

alright heres some pics of the whole thing.

Yes it was grown with CFLS , 2 68ws, 3 23ws, 2 26w and 2 40w

Alright I have some confusion I'm growing in hydroponics so I don't know if I should not water the last 3 days because if i did the tank would just be empty lol.

Should I let the last day of its flushing be in darkness then at night harvest it up and then put it in a dark closet to dry for a week then the 2nd week of curing put it in a jar and burp every 24 hours right?
