8 weeks into Flowering

Its been 8 weeks this Friday since i switched to 12/12. My strain is Northern Lights so its got between an 8 and 9 week flowering period.

The buds seem a little small considering harvest is about a week away. I heard soil take an extra week or two to flower compared to hydro. does this mean Im more like about 2 or 3 weeks from harvest?

Anyway have a look...tell me what u think.

Don't worry too much about dates on your flowering times. They are only general guidelines with plants as there are so many variables that can affect the final outcome, ie lighting, temps, air, noots, etc. Look closely at your plants and get ready to harvest when the trichomes (where most of the THC is) are at their highest concentration on the leaves and buds. That is why your buds look wimpy right now. They don't appear to have filled out with resin yet. Look at pics of buds with tons of sticky trichomes all over them. That is what you go by and take a sample when you think they are ready, dry it slowly in the micro, taste it. What's it tell you??? Ready or not? How do they feel, sticky or not? As for hydro being done sooner, not so. They are just bigger and get bigger faster with hydro. Same basic time frame, just different final appearance and poundage!!! Be patient and keep looking at the buds. I use a magnifying loupe if in doubt and really get up close to look at the trichomes. Some commercial guys go strictly by dates and harvest by the calender, regardless of potentcy. When the buds are mature, a day or two either way is not going to make a noticeable difference in stone. Maybe final weight but thats about it. Once you know your strain, have the same environment each time, etc. then you can go by the calendar and be pretty spot on with the maturity. That bud in UserFriendly's site looks very mature but you need to feel the sticky, how solid the bud is, is it as filled-out as it can be, etc. In many situtations you are not going to get big buds like that nor solid fat buds either. Depends a lot on lights and noots as to how big they get and how solid they are when mature. Which factors down to final weight. Some buds never get to where they have a lot of trichomes on them for various reasons like bugs, bad or weak lighting, etc. They may be as mature as they will get and never get fat or stoney, no matter the strain. AND, be careful stripping off all the fan leaves as they are responsible for sugar production, hence THC. Leave most of them until harvest to help insure potent buds.

i didnt prune them at all. I did take some clones using the bottom branches at about 1 week into flower. There are a few brown hairs showing. Ill get a good cam and get a close up of a bud or two.

how much light do you have? As laskabud said..less light will effect the flower time somewhat and tend to stretch it out.

when was the last time you fertilized?

buy a loupe/scope and watch the trichomes to judge when she's truly ready. I have a feeling she will pack on a bit more weight if you let her go another few weeks and let her ripen. She's already frostin up nicely...

good luck

I have a 400watt hps light. I did a flush last friday cause of some nutrient burn i noticed, and the last time i fertilized would be yesterday.

Yeah i plan on letting them grow till they're ready :)

yeh i also would have thought you would have packed on a little more bud then that, its a decent healthy looking and sized plant. Your plants arnt squashed one bit, your obviosly got enough room to grow. Chuck another light and let them grow a little bigger is what i would personally do next round.

Hey guys, Wow they look sweet shapeshifter, Mine are about a week off harvest but the buds arent near as tight as that...you might be able to help me since we are around the same time.Have you heard about not water your plant from about 4 days to harvest to increase potency....is this true??

no i dont think that would make any difference. You stop feeding them nutrients to clean up the taste of the bud. But i cant see any advantage of not watering them.
