8” Exhaust

Hi guys,

First post here! Quick question regarding exhaust fan and negative pressure.

Started my first seeds ever just over a month ago. Everything is going well, I started looking at carbon filter setups thinking ahead. 4” and 6” were sold out so I said screw it and got the 8” filter/fan.

Hindsight this fan is way too strong for my 2.5 x 2 x 6’11” Gorilla. Even on the lowest setting it’s like there’s a tornado in there. Little plants are going crazy. I have the passive intake open all the way, but no intake fan.

Will the intake fan help me out enough? I would also like to filter intake air if possible. Any help is appreciated, first time trying this.

Thanks all,

You can get a speed controller to power down your exhaust fan. Here's what I use:

Growsun Fan Controller Adjuster Variable Fan Speed Controller for Inline Duct Fan https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071KXHCK3/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_9B2-Ab0G8VQB7

Not sure an intake fan will help with all that negative pressure; you may not even need it with a speed controller but you can certainly filter the air going in and out if you want to. That's how I do it too but I have a room sectioned off as a bloom area. The walls breathe in there too but only when I eat too many shrooms.
Trouble is where finding room to put the filter inside your already cramped tent? You could try to hang it up out of the way by strapping it up to the framing.

I mounted the filter at the very top of the tent, ducting ran to the fan outside. I can’t see space being an issue, it’s tucked up pretty tight.

Sorry should have mentioned in the first post.Fan came with a speed controller but even with it turned down to minimum it’s still too much.

I’m thinking when these girls turn to flower they should be big enough to handle it.

What fan are you using?

I've never used an intake fan. I cover the intake vents with old T-shirts usually.
