8 bulb 4' HO T5 fixture sideways ok?

Do you guys know if it's kosher to hang the fluorescent fixture on its side or maybe vertically? Moving in to the new place this weekend - got my gorilla 4x4x8 tent ordered. A friend might even have some snow goddess clones (1:1 CBD/THC)and maybe even a clone of a 2:1 CBD:THC strain for me drop to into some 5g smart pots.... Or maybe I'll do 7g smart pots. Anyone have an opinion? I'm stoked.... gonna probably just journal it on Chefs thread though, too lazy this time :leaf::leaf::leaf::leaf:
 
Thanks. The lights are designed with hangers to hang them flat. I can rig up hangers, but didn't know if having the ballast in a different orientation than flat is hazardous
 
Hella good side lighting I would think. Let us know how it works for sure man I have a few just sitting around and would love to put them to use.
 
Thanks guys. I also have a 4' 4-bulb T5. I think I'll put both in there along with the 3 LEDs..... That'll give me right at a MW of lights and hopefully with a lower heat load than hid.
 
I use T5 and even sideways, just ensure that when lighting from the side you rotate your plants so that it gets light evenly dispersed!
 
hmm, now this gives me a good idea. maybe i'll keep the t5 on even through flower, but just hang it sideways for supplemental lighting. cool thanks dude.
