5.) Eliminate discrimination against firearm owners who use marijuana or other drugs:
"The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATF) recently sent letters to firearm dealers in the state of Montana threatening to fine or prosecute people who sold firearms to cancer, AIDS and other medical marijuana patients, even though marijuana is legal for medical use in that state.218 The agency also threatened to arrest medical marijuana patients who own firearms," says DPA. "In the same way people who use marijuana or other drugs should not be deprived of housing, school loans or other benefits allowed to people who misuse alcohol, they should not be subject to different firearms rules either."

It should not only be limited to medical patients, if the gun has not been used in a violent crime it should have zero bearing on the charges a individual faces.

I can only think of two cases out of hundreds where a grower used a gun in some sort of violence, actually one was traffickers who shot one of their own members. Wish I could say the same for alcohol.

I don't think the majority of growers are violent. There are those who are in it just for money that openly flaunt what they do and all of the nice things they buy with their earnings. Those people open themselves up to violence. I think the majority of the people on this forum are just peaceful potheads that really like growing.

Sometimes rippers want to rob a grower and they get caught in the act. Shots are exchanged and the headlines reflect those actions. Usually it's the rippers who fire the first shots.

I can assure you that this doesn't reflect the majority of growers.

But where are growers shooting people people over plants? I'm talking the average grower here, not some nut job in a cartel. I can say as a whole, the pot crowd is anything but violent. Sure there is some tough talk on internet forums, but that's all it is, just talk.

After 49 years in law enforcement that is what I saw anyways.
