7 vs 10 gallon pots

Im thinking about down sizing to a 7 gallons from 10 gallons. I feel im wasting dirt using 10 gallons and wateing/feeding less. I feel feeding and watering more i got better yeilds and better results with more runoff compared to 10 gallons that take longer to dryout and with barely any runoff.. i veg for usually 2 months..
 
We would have to see the plants and what the roots look like when you empty the pots. I would recommend you switch some of them and do a comparison at the end. That way if it cost you it only cost a little and you will know what version is working best for your conditions/grow style. Good luck.

Well the roots dont seem to fill the the 10 gallon to make me think im wasting dirt. I grow 3 to 4 foot plants but feel i got the same yeild or better in small pots..

If they aren't full they aren't bound. Maybe consider trying 1 5gal, 1 10 gal and the rest in 7gal for next run.
 
Never had a root bound plant.. i seriously feel a 7 gallon is the way to go. Just sick of using all that dirt and nutes an getting only a QP.. when i want more.. im using 1 plant under 1 light..

That throws the comparing out the window, you should feel safe at 7 if they aren't filling the 10.

More comes with more roots, only way to get more roots-- veg longer-- period.
I suggest a 90-100 day veg in 7-10 gal pots... difference being frequency in watering, with the 7 you may end up watering daily...

I want to water more to be able to feed it more.. here is one i put in flower 3 weeks ago that i vegged for atleast months in a 7 gallon. An im feeding every 3 to 4 days..

I like to get mine root bound in a 1 gallon first, which takes most of my veg time, then put them in 7 gallon and let them recover/finish any training/fill out, then it's into 12/12. I use fabric pots.

I'm pretty sure the whole point of fabric pots is that they CAN'T get root bound since the tips just die instead of spiraling. Do you just mean you let the roots fully fill the container before xplanting? Because that's a slight but important difference

Bugger root, bigger fruit. Observed results from dwc where its plainly evident that dirt only takes up space that could be h2o/nutes/roots.
 
I know im ressurecting this old thread but im trying to decide between 7 vs 10 gallon fabric pots, the difference in price is like 2 bucks. I typically veg outside in the summer and bring the plants in to flower. Is 10 gallon too big indoors?
