7 inch Humidity Dome/Light ? - And VEG question 150W HPS !

Question #1
So I got a 7 inch humidity dome and seed/clone starter setup with a heat mat. Im curious about the lighting.
I have a 2 foot t5 to use to start up these seedlings and clones under the dome.

!!!!!!But the dome is 7 inches tall!!!! Will the plants be close enough to the light? And should I consider having 2 or 3 t5s for this or will 1 be enough?

Question #2
So I accidently got a 150W HPS bulb that I thought was a MH bulb. Anyways I plan to veg under this bulb. Would this bulb work well to veg say "9" 6 inch plants to say 15 inches or so in small pots in a 2x2 or 4 square foot area?

Thanks for all the help and if you have any opinions or ideas please let me know !

Well i have a 600W HPS for my flowering room but I wanted to have a veging room. So basically what can i use this god damn 150w HPS light for!!! I bought it online so i dont want to send it back? You dont think it could be used to veg small plants really :\ This sucks i wasted my money on this thing. I mean t5s are used for vegging and this is more powerfull than a t5 right.. ? oh yah i hooked u up with rep thanks for helping !

What bulb do you have in your 150w HPS?

If you have a dual spectrum lamp you can use it for veg time and it will work fine.

You could also check your ballast and see whether you could just replace the lamps.

I found out from my Ballast manufacturer CenturyGrowSystems that mine can run any lamp upto the wattage stated on the ballast regardless of whether it is MH or HPS.

Then you can just interchange your lamps.

Hope this helps

I veg fresh cuttings in rapid rooters under a 400W HPS over the dome for 1 week, then pull the dome, transplant to rockwool, and veg another 3 weeks under the 400.

The 150 should be just fine to handle veg. If you can make more space for the veg, you could use the 150 to handle the plants + dome.

What do you think about having 2 t5s right above the humidity dome and on the other side of the dome having a 150w HPS over the mother plant in the same room. So it would be mixed light (2 t5s and 1 150w HPS) in the same room with clone/seedlings and a mother plant next to each other. Does this sound ok ?

Basically would it be ok to have t5s and 150w hps on the same timer in the same room for veg/mother/seedlings ?

it would be good for your mothers. its just not enough for good sized plants, when they are small you can group them under it to save power but as they get bigger they will need more space and light

yeah but you have small t5s i use two 4ft 4 bulb t5s for veg in a 4x4ft space. growers i know are ditching their mh and going to t5 for veg. they are no good for tall plants they just don't penetrate to the lower branches, but i don't really go much over 18" in veg so i do well with mine

thanks for the rep

sweet sounds good, yah i just want to start the clones/seedlings with the t5, and im hoping the 150 watt light will be enough to get the clones big enough to bring into my flower room. But I guess ill just have to try it out and if its not enough ill have to continue vegging in my flower room with a 600 w for a few extra weeks. Well ill find out in a few months i guess. but thanks again.
