600w HPS vs the Great Outdoors for Veg

I have a balcony that is obscured from the view of others. I am in southern Canada, about 2 hours from Buffalo.

Currently I am vegging under a 600w HPS. The plants are only a few weeks old.

Would they get better growth under the HPS or outside?

I would still keep them under the HPS for parts of the day, but what about putting them outside from 11am to 6pm?

I want optimal growth. Electricity cost isn't a factor for me. I'm happy to keep them indoors if it is better. They are about 8 inches from the HPS, which has an air cooled hood.

they would enjoy the light! i would do the same just outside bugs etc. are an issue. but if no one can see them and bugs are not a problem then id say hells yea!

Pests came to my mind as well. I am on the 6th floor of the building. There isn't any other foliage around. What do you think the chances are of something in the wind hitting the plants?

Nothing truly compares to outdoor growing, but there are complications that come with an environment you can't control. Bugs, pests, diseases, and possibly even fertilization are possibilities. Personally, i'd say go for it.
