600w hps space.

Hello, today I upgraded to a 600w hps. Now i have a few questions i was hoping the community can help with.
Will a 4x4 be big enough for a 600w hps.
How do I keep my tent cool because it's not a cooled hood and heat will probably be an issue just from feeling the bulb run..
Any help, advice, and or pointer will be very appreciated.

I Run a 600 in 3x3 and 4x4. Like the 3x3 but works well in the 4x4 too.

Shoulda gone with the air cooled reflector lol. When i ran a couple of six hundreds i built a wood cab 4x8x8 cab for a couple hundred bucks and put an ac unit in the side of it in the garage. It kept it pretty cool in there.....with air cooled reflectors

I got it for 40$ so i couldn't really be picky! Would a regular rotating fan help at all?

Why not give it a test run to check temp results? I had a 400w in a 4'x2' and it had bad ventilation but still was too hot.

Air flow is vital. Save yourself the headache and get an AC reflector and an inline fan.

Thanks, yeah looks like air-cooled is the way because i have no idea to to vent the air out of the tent without ripping it.

Yeah just look and you'll find a cool tube for a good price. I got mine from a shop when I turned in 2 other hoods. I kind of got played cuz it should have been 1 for 1 since both of my hoods where top notched. But it's cool. But I'm in the same boat with you since I want to build a 2x3x8 space and I have a 600 that I can dim down to 300. Not sure if I have enough to space for an hps...going to add insulation in the attic above the garage as well

i run 2 600w hps in a 1.2meter high by a 1.6 meter width i run one 6inch inline to suck the heat out could do with a bigger one as in summer when shit hits 43-46c were i am it gets round the 32-34 mark in the tent but no real issue and i use a 4 inch to push fresh air in seems to work just find get a nice yeild off 3-4 plants

my bulbs are not aircooled they are just free hanging vertical

bare bulb runs cooler then an air cooled hood. try it.

600 is fine with a 4x4 tent buy you a cool tube with an inline fan to remove the heat

prob smaller 1.2x1.6m i use a 6 inch inline to suck the heat

yes but get one with some kind of deflector on top,then hook flexible ducting to it run it outside the tent to an inline ventech fan. my tent has 6 inch holes you can run the duct thru

Thats not always true. Truth is it depends on what your temps are...in your room and outside. How well your ac hoods are ventilated and ducted. And other factors. Actually in reality ive found vert bare bulbs running cooler than a proper air cooled lamp vented room to be the exception.... not the rule. We are of course talking rooms with no air conditioning units installed. If you are using an air cond unit you will definitely use less of it with air cooled hoods witb glass. Esp. if the hoods are vented and ducted (insulated ducting ftw) outside.

And i say it depends on your setup. I know all about bare bulbs. Believe me. I know how to set them up proper. I know about air cooling the lamps proper too. And yes i know mini splits like the back of my hand. Ive been in or have built literally dozens of growrooms over the years. To make a blanket statement one size fits all like that just isnt true. Thats a fact.
