5w vs 3w

Okay i get some bleaching from my 4 3watt Led's. I'm thinking of purchasing a 5watt LED light as was wondering if I'll just end up with more bleaching. I keep my lights around 18" away during flowering. Anyone run a 5watt and have some advice? Currently run around 400 watt of 3w LED per 16 square feet

Can you post some pictures? I'm planning on running 330x 1w LED on a similar area (12 sqft) and it'd be good to know. Also, what lights are you using?
Hope you find a solution soon!

Best regards

Pictures of bleaching? i doubt you'd have a problem with 1w's. Also doubt you'd ripen your lower buds as the 1w dont offer as much penatration

I have 5W in my HSS but I think they only push 1 watt through them :eyesmoke: the light can barely raise seedlings!! I have awesome results with my 3 watts, I would have to see some massive buds to make me consider upgrading ... of course that would be years down the road as well.

The only bleaching I got recently was from the kessil h350 at 10-12'' ... otherwise I keep my light at safe distance but the odd buds get pretty close sometimes and still no bleach.

Keep in mind the higher the chip wattage, the farther you have to keep from the canopy to avoid not just bleaching, but over-saturation. Although the plant may not overtly show it, it will effect both growth and yield.

Once you get that, then the most efficient leds are the ones you can have closet to the plants without over-saturating them. Too much light causes the plant to respond by producing big shade leaves.

But what about penetration? No problem, 2 levels of low watt led panels Astir has a fascinating thread on riu. Here's his soon to be active website

I don't think you'll see much more bleaching by adding in a 5w model. If anything, you'll just need to raise it up a couple inches if you get some bleaching. which 5w lights were you thinking about?

Speaking of bleaching...
I love it when my chick gets her hole bleached!
it is so much more attractive after a. Wax, and a bleach.
Oh, and what pet said up there.
Adjust the distance till you find the sweet spot, and
Invest in lights.
