50w hps??

How many lumens is it generating? I've never seen one so would like to know more about this size, where did you get it? I just ordered a 150w to finish flowering my mini crop. I'm guessing a 50w hps would only do 2 plants total or 4-6 clones max. I think heat would be a non-issue.
 
I just looked up a 50w hps bulb and it only produces 4,000 lumens which is a little more than three 24w cfls.
Not sure of energy consumption. My guess is that the cfls are more energy efficient.
 
Try CFLs they are your best bang for the buck!! cheep to operate and wont burn the leaves if they get close, will burn if toooo close but wont set fire. CHEAPER than HPS

Lumens do not add. 24w CFLs put out about 1500-1700 lumens.
 
holy $h1t ! it's been awhile. well by the number of replies, i got an answer. but look, check it out....if you came up on ..let's say about, 20 little 50W HPS bulbs; then would i be able to grow a well maintained crop ??
 
Bad idea friend... You'd burn the power of 1500w worth of hps and get the lumens of cfl's and it would cost way more than just buying two 1000w hps's.

I don't suggest you buy any 50w anything. At least start at 150w it will cover four square feet max. 50w would be enought for only a pc case grow.

Agreed. 50watt is just bum status. You plan on growing good nugs, you will have to have the light. I didn't have enough light for my first grow and it took forever and I didn't get nearly the yield I should have. I added light for the next grow and my results were way better.
 
i've got a little baby scrog going in an aerogarden right now... 50W would be ideal for such a small grow and such a small space. what of ballasts for this pandora's bulb?!
 
well the ballast i got is designed for 1 50w hps bulb, its a black rectangle ballast. about 5"x13". but fuck all that. i finally got 2 1000W hps bulbs, so im good on lighting; but now i have another complication. i really don;t want to use the normal nutrients that you buy in hydro stores, im trying a differant method. instead of using pre-mixed nutrients, i want to use individual straight liquid minerals. does anyone have any opinions??????
