50/50 promix/perlite flood and drain?

I thinking about fluffing up my soil and flood and draining my tables constantly during lights on. Basically run a soilest/hydro combo. Would that work? I was thinking of only letting the water fill my tables 1 to 3 inches be depending w here Im at in my flowering cycle/ how much water the plant is eating... I also thought about putting hydrotone Or perlite in the table around my smart Pots to collect any bs from the soil mix and to keep the roots unexposed to complete air hitting them. Any comments/ suggestions????

Welcome to RIU Nate! Since you have not gotten any replys in the General Growing forum, I'm moving it to one where you will get some answers. I'm leaning towards not doing that medium with flood and drain or you'll mess up your pump.
