no, it's not right.
plants take 5-28 days to dry, usually right at 7. then they go into jars for a few weeks, opening the jars for 2-4 hours every day. the bud will progressively get more potent untill about 8 weeks in jars. then it's as good as it's going to get unless you make hash

I guess all good things do take time. I had wondered about how long to cure as well, thanks KP! Ill be too tempted to smoke it after drying for 7 days, since I will only be growing a few plants stealth, but maybe ill set some aside to try aging for a couple months.

Is it right that after cutting my plant down it must be hung for 5 WEEKS!! and then put in jars for a least another 4 weeks? will i ever get to smoke it or is it just ornamental

Just hang it somewhere cool and dark. Don't let it get too dry too fast. I would like for it take about 7 days to get dry. I start smoking it from my vaporizer at that point (it's doesn't burn the chlorophyl). I don't think the potency changes by waiting longer, the shit is plenty strong right away, it's just waaaaaay to harsh a smoke before it's cured.
I would say that after ~4 weeks it's smokeable, but you will enjoy it a lot more if you wait it out 6 weeks.

since i am only growing one plant, would i be able to just cure my bud in like a cooler or something?
